Is it ethical to brand a site "TranscriptionGirl" if it's not female founded?

Hey gang,

Through my other projects I'm hiring a bunch of content writers, and want to feed them as much work as possible to keep them happy. So I'm thinking of spinning up a new podcast transcription service.

Many of my hired writers are female, and female podcasters are growing much faster than male ones. So on a whim I registered TranscriptionGirl.com, because I like the name, and can already picture a cool logo in my head.

However, I'm thinking it might be kind of weird to name a site TranscriptionGirl if it isn't a female founded company. It feels wrong, even if it's not a huge deal. But I'm torn, because I really think this type of branding could work well.

What do you think? Am I over-thinking this? Or is there a legit ethical concern here?

I can't see anything wrong. Only issue I see is these interviews where the interviewer will ask you why you chose this name.

      Yeah exactly, hah. Thanks.

Not unethical if you ask me, I actually like it from the point of a customer (everyone will probably understand that there is a team behind it). However, good luck finding male writers that will not be ashamed to work under that brand...

Interesting, thanks. I don't think my writers would actually mind because they write for a number of other brands, but I could be wrong! Might be awkward if you're a male writer sharing a portfolio from "TranscriptionGirl". :)

    Hi Stefan,
Did you ever launch this service?
I was thinking of doing something similar but for no-code podcasts.
Would love to pick your brain :)
    Cheers,

      Nope. I decided against it.

While there is some arbitrage opportunity around manual transcriptions, I figured the AI solutions out there would be too tough to compete against.

        OK.
        Thank you, that's helpful.
