Is it just me, or threads sorting order is weird

I visit the forum regularly, few times per week though I don't post comments often. Each time I'm bugged by the strange order of the forum threads. I expect to see the freshest threads on top, but it is not always the case.

Today I was scanning the forum as usual. I thought I saw all new threads and I was going to close the tab and move on when I saw the thread "Pitch me with your cold emails". It was posted "an hour ago" and it had 2 views. It was an interesting post and looking at the views count I'm sure this was the newest thing posted on the forum. Yet it was buried down at position 7. There were threads above it that had no activity in the last 12 hours.

I see each post has a voting score. My second guess is the threads are ordered by it, but it is not the case too.

I really like to see this community growing. Maybe it's just me, but I would like to see the threads sorted by newest activity on top. Do you have the same problem, or you prefer the current sorting algorithm?
