Is it worth investing in Instagram profile?

I have a question for all you guys who have Instagram account for your side project. I'm thinking about posting stuff related to my product. The website consists of cover images with featured products which, I think, fit to Instagram audience. Hence, my questions:

  1. How does traffic look like in your case?
  2. Do users come back to your service?
  3. Any tips to build a strong profile and engaged audience?

I will appreciate your insights and remarks

Consumer retail brand, yes. Saas software, no. Crafting a narrative is important for every startup, but Instagram needs to be done properly overtime to build beautiful content that people actually care about. If you have a unique narrative, Instagram can be a cool tool to build a community and an audience. Running clubs and more boutique online clothing brands do this really well. Most software companies use generic Unsplash images with a quote over it. This misses the mark and won't be worth your time. If you are a super early stage. Using Medium and IH will probably allow you to connect with more real people that will actually be interested in your product.

IMO your product needs to have a strong visual presence, to be able to sustain a flow of content and to keep the followers engaged. For software this is challenging because 90% of software happens under the hood and UI work is honestly not interesting long term. I see some accounts on IG that work this angle but they are being extremely creative with what they post.

Beyond that, growing IG audience is in my experience fairly easy and faster, compared to other social platforms, and I would go after that platform if I had a suitable product. I have some IG accounts, not for the purpose of trying to grow them but to be present in the platform. I'm not sure how much time you have spent on IG based on your post, but if you have not, create an account and start posting as yourself to get a feel for it.
