Is my approach doomed?

I'm developing a mobile app that's a fusion of fitness and entertainment, essentially a gamified activity tracker.

In the aftermath of a few recent projects that struggled to find product/market fit, I decided to change my approach. Instead of tailoring a product to a perceived market need, I chose to create a product that would satisfy my own demands, i.e. scratching my own itch.

Here's my thinking about why this can work:

Passion-Driven Development: Crafting a product I'm passionate about allows me to intuitively understand its requirements because I am, first and foremost, a user myself.

Identifying Like-minded Individuals: It might be challenging, but I believe I can locate people with similar interests/similar profile who would find value in the app.

Motivated Marketing: Being passionate about the product will fuel my drive to promote it.

Entertainment Factor: As it's a consumer product with an entertainment focus, vs. something more B2B focused this approach seems fitting.

Do you believe this approach can work? What are your experiences with creating products that scratch your own itch? Any insights or anecdotes would be greatly appreciated!
