Is My Idea Unattractive or Is My Landing Page Off?

I'm struggling to attract my first users. As it stands, the only thing I can pinpoint as a potential issue is my landing page.

http://wols.io/

Is it that my landing page is unappealing, or is the idea itself just not interesting or attractive?

I think this is a super cool idea! However, I'd try to make the hero copy a bit more too the point so I know exactly what it is right away. Can you summarize what this is in a few words?

    1. 1

What did you find cool? was it the visuals or something else?

In a few words I would say:
A personal day planner that helps you get the job done and stress-free

  2. 2

When you say you've pinpointed the landing page as the problem, what data have you used to come to that conclusion?

Do you have a high amount of traffic but very low conversion rates? If so, I'd agree with you. But the landing page can only work if people are reaching it.

That said, here are my thoughts on the landing page.

    The good:

    • Design is clean and feels unique (i.e. doesn't feel like a template I've seen a million times before)
    • The copy is friendly and easy to read

    The bad:

    • It takes too long to figure out what you're selling. Bump up the screenshot to be above the fold.
    • Is this free for life? Free trial? How will the business sustain itself? If I'm going to switch my current task manager to Wols, I need to know that Wols will be around for a while, and that you won't suddenly start charging me an arm and a leg.
    • You mention "Luxafor integration", but I had to Google what Luxafor is. What does your integration do? Why should I care?

Overall, I'm not sure this is a winning product. Task managers are an incredibly competitive space. BUT: Let's assume you built it because nothing else met your needs, and let's also assume there is at least a niche market of people who think like you do and what a task manager that works the way you think it should. The one thing your landing page needs to do more of is to be more direct about what you're selling.

Every time you make a big promise, follow it up with a concrete explanation.

    For example:

"Manage Tasks & Well-Being" → "Wols is a to-do list app that makes time for health breaks."

"Wols helps you get the job done and keeps you stress-free." → "Stay focused on the task at hand. Wols tracks the rest so you don't have to."

"Improving Your Life One Break at a Time" → Reference some studies to back up the importance of taking breaks. In particular, does taking breaks increase productivity? How much so?

Thanks for the well-thought-out response! I truly appreciate it.

Do you have a high amount of traffic but very low conversion rates? If so, I'd agree with you. But the landing page can only work if people are reaching it.

I tried some paid ads but it didn't bring in a large number of users, so I guess I can't fully pinpoint if the issue is just the landing page. It might just be that my idea, in general, doesn't sit well with people. I am, however, trying to build an audience on LinkedIn and Twitter, and have some strategies up my sleeve to hopefully generate some more traffic in the coming weeks.

I'll definitely take your advice to heart and give the copy on my landing page a new spin to see if that changes anything.

Again, thanks for dedicating the time and effort to provide feedback! This community is truly amazing.

At first glance your landing page is not optimized for conversion , and the user interface you used is not suited for your average customer, i know you used an approach like gumroad , but brands like gumroad have used substancial money to make their brand standout , it's hard for a beginner brand to adopt it , you should try to be more minimalist in your design, for the copywriting I think you already heard it in the comment but you need to hook the person, to answer there question, you don't need money for that , search for competitor problem and try to emphasis what you have in they don't , giving not only answer but statistics, for question like what? How? When? Why?
I hope that you might find this helpful, you can contact me if you need something
    Good luck
    🤞

You're the first one to suggest that the design might not suit my audience.
Do you think it's too colorful, in your opinion?

When you talk about competitor problems, are you suggesting that I should pick a product like Sunsama and try to illustrate why my solution is a better choice for achieving a mindful and well-balanced workday?

      Thanks for the feedback!

My two cents - it was not immediately apparent that I need to add tasks and how and when the breaks will be added.

Also since you don't need to login, how will you carry forward the tasks across days? Some local storage?

    1. 1

Everything is stored in local storage since this is just a very simplistic MVP.
I really want to figure out if there is an audience for this before doing further development.

Hi... how different it is from managing our task in rally or jira or task board or asana or whiteboard..... etc. what is the uniqueness you are providing?

    1. 1

I might need to call it a daily task planner, making it more of a personal tool since it isn't meant for teams.

What sets my tool apart is that it doesn't just help you plan your daily tasks, but also encourages planning for your well-being, by incorporating regular breaks into your day.

My landing page is failing if that was not clear.

    What problems does Wols solve?

    Who have such problems?

Have you tried asking them for feedback?

    1. 1

Right now, I am asking for feedback, and if the questions above seem unclear after reviewing the page, then it's evident I need to revisit it.

Thanks for your questions; they highlight the areas where I can improve.

  7. 2

I think the landing page looks pretty well, actually. Can imagine however, that the amount of people that actually recognize this as a big enough of a problem to signup are quite limited, which may make it harder to find first customers. And out of curiosity: where's the money?

    1. 1

As it stands right now, I'd be more than happy to keep it as a free tool if that helps in getting users on board. Monetizing it will only become a concern if I manage to attract a steady base of regular users.

  8. 2

Your landing page is clean and straightforward, which is good. However, it's crucial to remember that attracting users is not just about the landing page but also about the value proposition.

Have you received any feedback from potential users or conducted user testing to understand their perspective on your idea and landing page? Feedback from your target audience can be invaluable in refining both your idea and how you present it.

    1. 1

I think people working from home would really like this tool. I just need to find out where these users are online and reach out to them.

Thank you! I haven't tried that yet, and it seems like an easy thing to do. ;-)

    Just does not seem valuable

    1. 1

May I ask you a few questions, just to see if you land within my assumed user group?

      • Is mindfulness something you are interested in?
      • Do you have problems with burnout or overworking?
      • Do you have a desk job where you sit in front of a computer all day?
      1. 2
        • Yes, but we may have different understanding of what value mindfulness brings
        • Occasional burnouts, but I don't think the reason is overworking
        • No, but I sit in front of a computer half of the day (my personal choice)
  10. 2

    site is getting 500 error

    1. 2

Strange, thanks for letting me know!

  11. 2

page has a 500 error currently

    1. 1

      Will look into that, thanks!

I think the landing page is modern and nice.

However, I am a bit pessimistic about apps that care about user's wellbeing. I mean relaxed mind will feel less urge to return to the app. And the user will leave the app as soon as they reach balance of their life (or work/life in your case). They will feel they don't need it anymore. Then, a portion of users will return after they realize that the app helped them in the past, but they will be gone after they achieve the balance again. In a sense, the app's success is predicated by number of people who are able to build a habit that is good for them. Alas, that's small audience - and hard to market to as they are already offline.

I am afraid that apps that game the mind of users and achieve addiction are more likely to succeed than apps that allow their minds to be more balanced.

I know this is unpopular opinion, but we see evidences of this all around us.

Anyway, I hold my fingers crossed for you, and I promise I won't be building any dopamine fix app.

      Off to a good start!

And the user will leave the app as soon as they reach balance of their life (or work/life in your case). They will feel they don't need it anymore.

I would be thrilled if someone actually changed their behavior for the better, and if that means my app is no longer needed, so be it.

I am afraid that apps that game the mind of users and achieve addiction are more likely to succeed than apps that allow their minds to be more balanced.

This might sadly be the case.

Thanks for the honest feedback I really appreciate it!

That is the idea! Plain and simple.
A task manager with a twist.
