Is NO-CODE Dead??

I've been hearing a lot about how no-code is a dying field, is this true? if you think so, why is that?

  1. 7

Haha, if you've been on this site for more than 24 hours you should realize very quickly how utterly wrong that statement is.

    1. 4

I legit thought this was clickbait

  2. 5

No-Code is a new term, but the concept has existed for decades, I don't think it's going anywhere. Remember Microsoft Frontpage? The original version was released in 1995, and it technically was a No-Code tool, you could create HTML pages using a word-like editor.

    Where have you heard this?

If anything, it's growing rapidly. More and more people are discovering platforms like Webflow, Glide, Bubble, etc.

They're realizing that they can build their own MVP, instead of spending thousands hiring development firms. This field will only continue to grow exponentially.

    1. 1

I've heard this from people on this platform, some podcast, and sub reddit post. And look, i agree with you. I think its just getting started. But maybe people can't realize that when they're upset about their No-code MVP having 5 only users.

No-code isn't dying. It's a different type of tool for certain types of makers.

  5. 1

The whole point of coding is to build tools that let users do things without having to write any code (or as much)

  6. 1

Doubt it. People are building with it and making money and others are building no-code tools for users and businesses. Seems to just be growing and still in the [very] early days.

  7. 1

Yea I think #nocode is only getting bigger actually

from who? It's more popular now than ever before because it's useful. It's useful for quick validation. It let's programmers stay busy doing the hard stuff, not creating landing pages, not dealing with transactional emails and moving data around.

More people in MakerPad now than ever.

    I made this: https://nocodeblackfriday.com/
    and it was profitable.
    Already profitable sidebusiness here: http://bettersheets.co/

Sorry, Im new to web apps. You say, "It let's programmers stay busy doing the hard stuff, not creating landing pages, not dealing with transactional emails and moving data around."

Does that mean that you can develop no code UI using something like webflow/bubble.io and then if you need to expand your product, you can copy-->transfer the CSS/HTML front end code from to a dev, so they can actually PROGRAM automations and other features to the web application?

      Is this true?

      1. 2

        Yes. But no transfer needed.

        For example:
        I made creatorgrowthlab.com the devs made app.creatorgrowthlab.com

Its nice to see some validation in your approach @AndrewKamphey. I was curious on how to from Webflow to custom app. We ended up using Webflow for main page and custom dev for the webapp. We did some fancy redirects using CloudFlare to keep everything under the main bizpayo.com domain to maximize SEO (rather than needing to do a subdomain.).

        2. 1

cool, thanks for the example, what did you mean by no transfer needed?

          1. 1

I create the landing page. A dev creates the app. I just link to the login page. I do not need to, as you mentioned, "copy -- > transfer the CSS/HTML Front end code from to a dev"

carrd.co does have a great little feature, you can download the webpage if you'd like to.

Agreed, who is saying its dead? I think COVID has proven the need for the ability to quickly release something.
