The video we have on the landing page was recorded 1 year ago.
It was outdated in the first 2 weeks already because we added some new features and completely changed the UI.
Now I'm planning to make a new video for the 1-year anniversary, but I thought that one is gonna get outdated too, so I'm thinking of not having a video at all, and just have videos of individual features and update them as needed.
What do you think?
A video on the homepage can be effective, but you're absolutely right about them getting outdated. The best timeless videos I've seen on landing pages emphasize the product benefits rather than the features. Benefits aren't impacted as much by UI changes that can outdate videos. That might be an angle you can take if you found the video to be effective at converting visitors during year 1.
Hey, I believe videos are still adding value for customer to understand your product features and benefits. I have see many Internet marketing SAAS product with videos sales letter on their home page. Video should be engaging and interesting.
That makes sense, I thought of it too. But these videos are a bit harder to record and make :)
Rather than a direct video recording of the application, you could create an animation with a similar design as your app which just shows the core concept of it - that way it can be relatively timeless which will allow you to continue making small changes to your UI.
I think a video would be easier than creating animation, but I get what you're saying.
No, I think it's great but don't load it till the user clicks on the thumbnail to keep the page light!
