Is selfishness becoming less socially acceptable in the West?
Business, entrepreneurship, and capitalism are built on top of selfishness. But it seems like socialist voices are becoming more and more mainstream.
Have you encountered such difficulties when doing business in the West?
Should new entrepreneurs move to guaranteed business-friendly countries like Singapore or UAE?
The US should be the go-to place for businesses, but the amount of hate against businesses and the growing demand for wealth redistribution is getting alarming in my opinion.

Glad I wasn’t the only one. If somebody is being called selfish for wanting to be productive & improve his own life, chances are he has a personality issue (acts like a d*ck when setting boundaries, etc.) or he’s surrounded by manipulative vampires. Usually it’s #1 though
Nah, I think I'm just on reddit too much. The liberal socialists there are too loud. The amount of hate towards businesses at least shown on reddit got me concerned.

This is the typical American fallacy that is used to defend billionaires. The reality is that the gap between the top 0.1-0.01% to the top 0.01-0.001% is 100 million dollars. This is where the criticism is being lobbed, not at owners of small businesses (and people with the kind of scrappy do-it-yourself mindset that categorizes hackers). Unless you have a net worth of $100m, nobody cares. If you have that net worth, I'd be surprised if you were still posting here.
In fact, reducing wealth inequalities is good for small businesses. It gives you room to compete in markets that would be conventionally dominated by a small collective of individuals holding all the power. Maybe, you like the fight to the top, but I am of the belief that the American dream should be attainable for anybody who is willing to put the work in. A little adjustment to the system would go a long way.
TL;DR: The only selfish people are the billionares. You aren't selfish for owning a business. You aren't being targeted for having money, unless you are an ultra millionare. If you are an ultra millionare, you wouldn't care what people think!
Socialism and consumerism cancel out. I dated a girl a few years ago who was an avowed communist and yet she had a pile of designer shoes in the corner of her bedroom. In other words, she didn't bring her communist ideals to the cash register with her.

You're not running a physical retail business where a bunch of hooligans can come by and ruin your shit.
You may be right about the amount of "hate" against businesses but it has not done much for wealth distribution and businesses still benefit from the current environment in the US, maybe more than ever. One could still set up their business in the UAE and then sell in the U.S. market, getting the best of both worlds. This way you take advantage of the UAEs business-friendly environment while tapping into the huge U.S. consumer base.

Business is all about serving others. It's NOT about what you can take (i.e., selfishness), but how you can help and what you can give. You provide them with something they need, want and value more than the money they give you in return. It's mutually beneficial.
I don't think that should be the only reason. Being in Singapore or UAE means you're going to address those markets, or still western markets. In the second case it will not make much of a difference.
