Is tacking a foreign market outside of your country of residence a bad idea?

I am currently residing in the USA. I am still in the process of finding ideas. It is really hard to find a niche idea, or I'm not that creative enough. I've been thinking to try tackling a foreign market. It is a country where I was born, I speak the language fluently and I still have friends and families there but I rarely visit (maybe once every 2 years).

What are the downsides of tacking a foreign market where you don't reside? Aside from timezone (I think this is an advantage, since I can release while they are sleeping)
