Is the age of perfection over?

One day ago, I've read about an app called BeReal which is taking off among Gen Z.

The way BeReal works is pretty simple: it encourages users to send one post every day to their friends to show exactly what they're doing in real time.

“Authentic” social media apps are on also the rise: TikTok was the most downloaded mobile app in the world during the first quarter of 2022. TikTok, unlike Instagram, encourages people to be genuine

"Authentic" ads also seem to trump conventional ads: According to a report, user-generated ads (which are usually more authentic) outperform conventional ads by up to 50%.

Are we entering an age where flaunting our imperfections is an advantage?

I do support bucking the trend of the carefully curated perfect life.

I do observe a less perfect public persona among my daughters peer group so maybe it's a trend.

I'd say yes, showing imperfections is becoming an advantage.
    I'd also say it's healthy.

It's the counter-discourse for years of unrealistic standards and shoving the negative under the rug. Showing imperfections, sharing ups AND downs, and demystifying glamour are signs that people are embracing all aspects of life and processing things instead of bottling them up.

Interesting potential trend, definitely something to watch in next months. Thanks for sharing.
