Is there a market for desktop applications?
Hey all!
Wanted to ask if some of you have run successful business with desktop applications? I am particularly interested in develop an app for OSX but the question aims at any operating system (including Linux).

I didn't, but there certainly are successful business sticking to native applications for the desktop.
See Sketch, jetbrains with their brilliant tools for coders.
I can only think of tools for artists and developers where a desktop app can compete with online software. I guess the collaborative aspect coupled with no install is a big plus. But it's certainly doable.
Well, yes, but i meant something more indie than Sketch or JetBrains. I was aiming at productivity tools, which as far i have researched was one of the main categories for the AppStore. But i will pass this time as it it seems discouraging and with lots of disadvantages if you compare it against a traditional saas application.
