As a coder, I enjoy coding a lot.
But when I finally finished building a product and tried to launch it on app store or Product Hunt or what not, I keep putting off works like copywriting and putting together some screenshots, etc.
I was just wondering if there's such service out there for solo developers like me, who also happen to be really bad at copywriting and graphic designs.
You can use Canva and ChatGPT and copy ai . Also, if you want to make promotional videos, you can use InVideo. I recently used it and it's great
you can hire both ofc, also many people are productizing these servicies
Hey John,
Sorry to break it to you but if you like coding and hate marketing then entrepreneurship might not be the best choice for you.
It's 99% marketing (if you want to be successful).
However, if you do want to continue, there are things you can do to take that burden off yourself as much as possible - hiring others to do it is one way but it takes control of your business out of your hands.
Personally, the most effective way to grow is to get your customers to generate word-of-mouth growth for you - but of course the problem you have is that you don't have those customers in the first place.
The alternative then is to get your non-customers to generate word-of-mouth for you - it's counter-intuitive but it works really well. My website (www.thebluntmethod.com) explains how to do that (complete with case-studies).
Good luck.
Best
Chris
The case studies on your website are great!
Thanks for sharing, Chris.
Thanks John, glad they could be of help :-)
If you wanna go down the route of someone helping with marketing you could go with fiverr or a freelance website. But would have to pay for it.
As for app screenshots for the app store there are some free resources, personally I like:
https://app-mockup.com/
For product hunt screenshots I like:

I agree that the best way is to first try to grind it out and see how far it takes you.
Awesome resources. Thanks! :)
best it to partner with a marketing guy
That's also a way to go.
If it's a bigger project or projectS, it would be interesting to partner up with a marketing pal!
Marketing is not an event, it's a process.
Building a product and expecting someone else to market it without being part of it will probably not work in my opinion.
If you must, find a marketing agency to work closely with, for more than just the launching of the product. But, the best thing to do: partner up with someone who can do the marketing part. This will increase the odds of success.
Hope it helps :)
I think you are right on point. I guess I'll have to grind it out then.
Thanks for your comment, @BuilderMarketer!

How much would you be willing to pay for a subscription-based marketing partner, think Designjoy for marketing services?
You make a backlog of requests, you decide which request will be worked on. All communication through Trello. Result on active request within 48h.
Haha I see that DesignJoy has become the poster child for productized services. :p
Unlike an agency or full-time indie hacker, I only launch a project occasionally. I still got my full-time gig.
So, I don't think I am the right person to answer your question on this subscription model.
If it was a one-time service that covers Product Hunt, BetaList, what else?, I would say up to $200?
Just wondering what would be a reasonable amount/range for someone to charge for this? I think someone who is offering digital marketing training should be able to identify some good students and give them as a live work.
For one-time service that covers Product Hunt, BetaList, what else?, I would say up to $200?
I’m exploring this too, but pricing is difficult. The big dilemma is: time based or value based.
I could spin up a marketing service subscription. For a startup with funding 3k/month is super cheap for having all marketing request handled. For an indie hacker without any revenue 3k/month may sound like a looot.
So it ain’t easy, maybe a way of rev share when working with indie hackers could be a good deal.
I think your idea is solid. I would say aiming for startups with funding is probably more realistic for 3k/month.
I don't think indiehackers, especially when they are just launching, have that much to spend.
