Is this a good idea?

Recently as I've been visiting new cities, I've had trouble finding cool spots to eat or go out that are mainly known by locals. In every new city, there are tons of tourist traps and anytime you look up places to eat on yelp or google, you get very generic results that you can find in plenty of other cities.

My Idea:
Create an app/website that allows local bloggers/foodies to curate a list of their favorite places to eat or go out. Initially bloggers/foodies will have to manually enter in their favorite places (there will eventually be validation for checking that the place is not franchised and only is available in that given city). These bloggers/foodies can then give a rating and review of that place.

This allows regular users to follow their favorite bloggers/foodies to see what they suggest. They can also upvote their bloggers/foodies ratings which helps the regular public understand how reputable someone is for giving that review. This also allows anyone visiting a new city to easily find the highest rated bloggers/foodies to find best local spots.

Eventually I hope to make this a platform where restaurants can do launches, advertise, and offer affiliate commissions to bloggers/foodies (via coupons) who drive people to go to their store and purchase something.

^Time to roast me!! What's good and what's bad about this idea?

I think there's no such thing as a bad idea, rather an unrefined idea. Anyway I do think that this app has an interesting concept but I would suggest checking out the presence of local food apps which might potential cover your value proposition!

Had a similar idea when I was in college. Where tourists can explore new places in a city they are visiting. This would include photos, micro-content, and articles. The UI will be map based where users can see different places on map near them and can see the content posted from that location. This would include food places, parks, or any tourist attractions. Users could also filter the most visited places on a map or even specific categories such as restaurants, clubs, and other tourist attractions. The target audience here would be tourists and food bloggers. Feel free to DM me if you want to talk more on this and collaborate😃
