Looking for feedback on the below.
Ideally, the user already does it, and you are either automating it or making it much cheaper and easier. I'd be cautious of building something designed to directly make your audience money because those are usually marketplaces that are not difficult to grow as a bootstrapper. Bonus points if you ACTUALLY have this problem. The number of times I built something and justified it with "I am solving my own problem" just because I was eager to build something.
This is where you understand the positioning and UVP. Ideally, there are competitors for this JTBD but you are doing something differently. This process implies that you kind of already know your audience well enough not to need to do the whole customer avatar and all that stuff, although this is where you'd do it.
If you talk to 10 people who you think are your ideal audience and they don't show significant interest via money or helping you promote this via referrals or shoutouts, chances are this isn't something that people will care about. Sometimes you might need to build a Concierge MVP which is sort of a quick demo just to illustrate value, this is definitely not an MVP, it's something you stitched together to quickly deliver the value you are offering.
Don't buy a domain name and spend like max 2 hours. Use EarlyBird or something like that to just quickly edit a template with good copy and some designs. I also recommend Supademo if you have Figma designs because it's easier to communicate. The main purpose is to just send this to people or post it in places where your audience hangs out. It should collect pre-orders or waitlist. Nico built scrap.so and got a couple of grand without having a product.
Cold DMs and posting stuff.
If you have got validation, then just build something very quickly to satisfy preorders and start collecting feedback. Then scale with ads and influencer marketing and other stuff.
The whole process can take a few days to a week because a lot of ideas can fail in the 2nd stage either when you can't figure out how to get a hold of your ideal audience (lack of founder fit for this problem) or no one cares (saves you at least a month of building something).
This way you can shoot through ideas quickly and develop a good instinct on what works.
Another thing worth mentioning is if you commit to an audience space, every time you do this you grow your connections which makes it easier to go through the motions. Plus you can experiment with different technologies or try to practice a specific skill each time so that each of these flows makes you stronger.
I haven't built anything successful yet (although I gave up on a bunch of ideas that now make 8k MMR because of my wrong outlook about the competition)
Looking for feedback on this process!
To add to it. I don't think you should start building until you have a sale otherwise you're a solution in search of a problem.
