Is this idea stupid? Wayback machine for founders/PMs.

Trying to figure out if this is a good idea... essentially idea is to have people add 5 sites to track (ideally competitors in your space). Once a day, I'd screenshot the sites, and save their HTML.

End result would be a nice interface+database that can track how products and websites evolve over time.

If anyone has 5 sites they want to track, add them and your email here :).

In my day job there's been a few times that our team has used the real Wayback machine. We even checked out our own site on it once. The site is a little glitchy but it works and it's free.

Another thing we did, we were already using debugbear.com so we started tracking competitor sites on it. That tool is mostly performance tracking but it has screenshots too.

So the idea sounds kinda useful, but not so crucial that we would pay for another saas subscription to get it.

Can't I do it through google alerts already?

No idea is stupid, the execution is all that matters!

The key pain point, yes :).
https://visualping.io/ this one is amazing too.

For this specific idea, I was thinking more like creating high fidelity case studies like https://www.failory.com/.

I axed the idea recently as I don't think it's a real pain point though.
