'I love this but what else is there?'
This was the feedback we got 90% of the time.
Our product wasn't enough, but people liked us, and it showed.
We went from 0 to 500 users in less than 2 months. No paid marketing and terrible SEO (and no, I don't have 10k followers on twitter).
We were hitting a pain point, we were solving a problem, but we still weren't enough.
What do you do in this situation?
Indiehacker style - just build some features.
Create the value that people are asking for.
And that's what I did.
It became exhausting and really wasn't fun.
So, I changed the way I looked at it.
My product is valuable but people want more.
Instead of building 'more', why don't I just sell it to someone who has 'more'.
As a standalone thing, my product was good but not great.
As a feature, my product was great.
Instead of changing the product, or pivoting on the functionality, we just changed our business model. Life is so much easier now.
Did you ever think that your product was rather a feature?
What did you do in that situation and how did it go for you?
P.S. Our Product (you can skip this and still get the gist): Micro-communities. Sign up and get matched to 10 people within your industry, within your stage, even within your location. A super-duper niche community just for you.
