Issafe: How We Used AI to Simplify Digital Safety

After countless hours of brainstorming, prototyping, and testing, we’re excited to share Issafe.vercel.app – an AI-powered tool that analyzes messages, emails, or screenshots to detect scams, phishing, and suspicious content.

But this post isn’t just about the product; it’s about the journey of building it. Here’s how we made it happen:

The Problem

Every day, millions of people fall victim to online scams. From phishing emails to fraudulent messages, even tech-savvy individuals can struggle to detect the ever-evolving tactics of cybercriminals. We wanted to bridge the gap between advanced cybersecurity and everyday users without overwhelming them with complex tools.

The Idea

The concept was simple:

Allow users to upload text or screenshots.

Use AI to analyze it for threats.

Deliver actionable feedback instantly.

How We Built It

1. Choosing the Stack

We chose Next.js with Vercel for fast deployment and a seamless user experience. The AI engine leverages OpenAI’s GPT model, trained on security patterns and behaviors.

2. The AI Model

To make the analysis accurate, we fine-tuned the model using datasets of phishing emails, scam messages, and legitimate communications. The challenge was ensuring the model could differentiate between harmless content and subtle threats.

3. UI/UX Focus

We wanted Issafe to feel approachable, even for non-tech users. We focused on minimal design, clear instructions, and instant results.

4. Challenges We Faced

False Positives: Striking the right balance between caution and over-alerting was tricky.

Data Privacy: Ensuring uploaded data isn’t stored or misused was a top priority.

Speed vs. Accuracy: Optimizing the analysis to be fast while maintaining reliability was a constant tug-of-war.
