It felt normal, but my body was telling me that I had stepped beyond what I was physically capable of...

"I felt terrible. The flight was about to take off and I started getting really hot. I was sweating through my shirt. I got shaky, then I got tunnel vision. I told my business partner, 'If I pass out, I'm going to need you to tell somebody because I might be dying.' After the most miserable flight of my life, I spent a night in the hospital. They weren't able to find any medical cause for what was going on. I wore a heart monitor for two weeks, which looked ridiculous, and I'm sure my employees all thought there was going to be a new boss soon. I had no idea what was going on. My family was freaked out. It got to the point where every single morning at 3:00 AM, I was waking up to my heart racing and a feeling of dread. I thought it was going to kill me and nobody had any answers — it didn't get better until I actually looked outside of the hospital system. I slowed down, reset my diet, created an exercise regimen, started doing acupuncture. Within four or five weeks, the panic attacks stopped and I was able to sleep through the night again. It was all the stress, obviously. I wasn't consciously stressed out. I'm always doing a hundred things, all at the same time. I'm used to traveling every month and having multiple deals going on. It felt normal, but my body was telling me that I had stepped beyond what I was physically capable of. I was buying two agencies. I had two new teams, two new sets of clients, and I didn't know what I was doing. We lost 30% of the total net client list because I took on too much. I'm trying to slow down now but I continue to buy more businesses. I just have a hard time saying no to good opportunities. It might be a compulsion, but I just love the game."
