It took me 296 days to get this golden PH badge
On June 7th, 2020 I created an account at Product Hunt to prepare our first launch.
Before that, I didn't know anything about Product Hunt. I didn't know how this platform works or how to launch something. But I can tell you this platform has changed my life since that day!
Not only because I've been on Product Hunt every single day since then, trying out and discovering countless cool products.
Not only because I have now participated in 10 launches.
Not only because people now ask me for advice and tips, exactly what I did in the beginning.
But mainly because I have met so many great people on this journey.
I have been able to learn so much from everyone and of course, I always try to give back added value.
So what I want to tell you is this...I highly recommend putting some time into networking with other makers every day! I promise you will not regret it.
Maybe this is even one of the secret resources to give a product or startup the initial kick-off.

Excellent! I've always wondered about Product Hunt. For example, the (maybe stupid) question is how to build the network on PH? How do companies entrust you with a product launch?
That's a good question! Product Hunt doesn't really make it easy to build a community on the platform. Other than following each other, there's nothing you can do. But most have their Twitter handle in their bio. Or you can go to one of the many Facebook groups and find the community there.
Thank you for your answer. What was your approach to these groups of people? Did you start to discuss with them on a topic?
In the early days, I just asked if they could share some best practices for a launch on PH. That's how the conversations started.

I remember there was a section in PH, where we post updates for what we working on, create tasks, join conversations on others updates etc... what happened to that?
It still lives! And is definitely a great way to interact with people and ask questions.
Where is it? I don't see the tasks/things I'm working on to add in my profile, and also the section either. Is it discussions now?

Yeah, congrats! You've also done super much stuff already. I think it's a bit like Reddit with the karma points. For 250 points you get bronze for 500 silver and over 1000 gold. I don't know exactly what that gets you either.
