It's because of my mum that I don't like money.

Have you ever felt like you don't deserve to earn the money you dream of?

I know I have.

I have spent a lot of time thinking about that recently and why I feel that way.

I am going to share some of my deepest thoughts today, and I've not even told my best friend or my wife this.

It's because of my mum (I know most of you reading this are from the US and say, Mom) that I don’t like money.

When I was little my mum always used to be critical of people with money, calling them stuck up.

One thing that always stuck with me was 'Ryan, money is your GOD, never forget where you come from. I don't want you to change'

I was petrified of hearing those words.

When I started my membership over ten years ago, I loved it. I loved the freedom. The work involved in growing it. Getting people results.

It never has been about the money. I love the process. I love the challenge.

One thing I didn't love was the success it gave me. Because I knew how my mum would react .....

The fear of that statement... “You've changed”.

I always got to a level, but couldn't ever break past that level.

(The key focus on that statement is how I said 'I couldn’t’)

It wasn't that I couldn't. It was that I wouldn’t.

What stopped this? Fear.

I had to break this fear. I looked for others who had been in this situation.

Then I got this advice, which I’ll share with you now.

'Everybody has the same choices young man, you choose to take your opportunities. People aren't jealous of you. It's their shortcomings that they didn't take their opportunities.'

Why are we scared of success?

The words I feared hearing most from my mum....

“You've changed.”

Now if she or anybody else said those words to me, I'd smile and think ...

You’re damn right. I HAVE changed.
