Looking into a payment problem: Nigerian banks cap forex spending on cards, so international SaaS subscriptions frequently fail for Nigerian users often silently, without a support ticket, since most people just churn instead of complaining. Even Spotify has an open, unresolved thread about this on their own support forum.
Curious how many other founders have Nigerian users and have run into this, even without realizing it. Would love to hear if this has come up for anyone here.
Have you seen failed Nigerian payments correlate with otherwise unexplained churn? That would show whether this is a real revenue leak rather than just a checkout friction.
that's exactly the gap Most founders don't have a clean way to correlate failed payments with churn, since the failure often isn't logged as payment issue, it's logged as customer canceled/didn't renew. So the leak stays invisible unless you specifically go looking for it. Have you ever checked this for your own product, or is this more a hypothesis for you right now
I’d treat it as a hypothesis for now — I was mainly testing whether you’d seen that correlation in the data yet.
no hard data yet, It's actually the exact gap I've been circling: this kind of churn doesn't show up cleanly unless someone builds the correlation deliberately and most billing dashboards don't do that by default. Would be curious to build that view if you ever wanted to compare notes.
That’s the gap I’d be most interested in digging into as well. If you’re open to it, what’s the best email to reach you on?
christopher4935@gmail.comhappy to continue there, or here works too if easier.
Thanks! I’ve just sent it over.
Looking forward to hearing your thoughts whenever you have a chance.
