I do a lot of web design freelancing for local businesses. For a long time, I've built simple marketing sites by hand. (CSS, Javascript, HTML)
I recently started exploring Webflow and am tempted to start using it. What are some pain points I should know about?
2 I've discovered on my own are:
Pretty poor Google speed scores.
It appears it costs $12/per site for hosting Is this correct? The pricing pages were a little confusing.
Hosting cost is often mentioned as a bit of a downside, but I don't think it is really that expensive.
We moved to Webflow about 2 years ago and it has been great. It's such a robust platform and the hosting takes care of itself, meaning it is much easier to support 20+ clients.
(Prior to Webflow, our clients would all be on slightly different platforms, so deploying changes and keeping their installations up to date was a major hassle. That is all standardized with Webflow, and that's a huge win. Makes us much happier to take on small clients.)
As a developer i can't use their platform I tried it back in 2017 on my old SaaS and ended up building it using a template instead.
2019 I decided to build a competitor that not only designers could use but developers and marketers (non-technical).
Another huge issue as you mentioned is pricing.
To work with your clients you would have to pay $76 per site.
