Whenever I build a new product, I usually talk about it on my socials after I've built and launched it. This time I wanted to try something different with what I'm building.
I spent last one week tweeting about each feature of my upcoming product every day, with a logo and name reveal just recently.
My Twitter: https://twitter.com/blenderskool
While I don't have a huge following on Twitter, it has worked out better than expected. I've gotten DMs from various folks asking what the product is and if they can get early access to it, something I never used to get when I launched the complete product at once!
Building the content for the tweets has also been relatively easy. I use a similar template for consistency with some changes every day. My messaging also started out very vague, getting clearer and giving more clarity each day.
Only time will tell whether these efforts translate to actual usage, I hope they do! 🙌
Update: Early access for my upcoming product is now open http://bit.ly/3OOWHK8
That's awesome, building in public just bring so many benefit, it's amazing 🙌
Thanks for sharing Akash, it was very insightful.
We use LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram majorly to drive traffic to our website, after reading about this I would surely consider sharing the product development process with my audience in the future.
All the best mate!
That's great. Will try the other platforms too.
Great job with Ruttl by the way 💪
Thanks man!
I also share on Twitter for my Ytbe.one product, even though my tweets do not receive any likes, I continue, it will definitely be useful. ⚡
This is really cool, did you do any cold outreach on Twitter yourself or did all the engagement come naturally?
Cool! Do you think Twitter will still be a place to promote products in the foreseeable future?
Don't know. There is definitely the follower game on Twitter where having a large following gets you good reach to promote products.
Great content! I will use a similar approach for my startup (affistash.com) I am lucky that a big part of my target audience is on Twitter, so I think it could work great.
Good luck with your product too!
Sounds great, good luck
Good product. I will also support it on Product Hunt if you launch it there. Thanks for sharing your post.
Thank you!
Love how you documented the process!
How did you build your twitter following? Did it grow organically from your time using twitter, or was there an effort to being more active the days before you launched?
For me, I wasn't active at all (barely use twitter lol) and only started being active a few days ago to build up more hype for my release and to build a following in general: https://twitter.com/therealetch
What do you think?
I like it! I wish the titles were more title-y or informative, maybe having information like "Starting an AI Product from Scratch"?
Thanks for the advice!
Best of luck to you for Slant it!
If you have a producthunt post for it, I'd gladly support.
Thanks for the support! Product Hunt launch will happen soon 🤞🤞
My Twitter following is organic. I'm quite active on Twitter and regularly post about tech / stuff I'm building.
Your product looks interesting, I think you should perhaps post more often with relevant hashtags to reach the audience.
Was the Twitter traffic all organic?
For example this tweet - https://twitter.com/blenderskool/status/1597603269089832962 get 25 likes which is above average for you in your top 10 tweets.
Nice work!
By the way, how did you find out the "above average" stat? Would love to know which tool you used to get this data.
I use this Twitter sidebar, shows the top tweets from anyones profile you see.
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/twemex-sidebar-for-twitte/amoldiondpmjdnllknhklocndiibkcoe?hl=en
If it is on the list in the top 10, it is above average. :)
Nice, thanks for sharing!
Yes totally organic! Some of the retweets were from people I know personally.
That's cool, were most of the traffic from forums like indiehackers/reddit?
I don't think so, I did not post about the tweets anywhere else.
Thanks for sharing. This is great inspiration. You really have little to lose sharing your experiences as you build. Content comes easy when it is something you are passionate about.
Absolutely! Although I've kinda started running out of features to talk about 😅. Might switch the content to some other part of the product.
I feel that. I've found that giving updates on how people are using the product, the growth of users, features people are finding most helpful, etc also drives great engagement.
