I've bought a Twitter ad for a startup challenge. Here's what I've got for $50.

Here's the stats from ad manager:

stats

Stats are a bit outdated, as actual post already got 65k views (+50% to screenshot from above).

Here's the tweet that I promoted:

So the cost per click is ~ $1. It's pretty comparable to what I saw before on other platforms (reddit and facebook).

As my target audience on Twitter I think this stats are justifiable and actually are pretty good for some kind of awareness campaign.

What's your opinion on this stats and Twitter ads performance overall?

Thanks.

I think you have got a good result!

I thought too but @Thorwox just mentioned here that it might be overpriced!

      Thanks for your comment James!

Interesting, thanks for sharing! How warm is the traffic that came from the ad? How many converted? I actually think that $1 per click is really high compared to what I experienced with Facebook Ads and even Reddit Ads

I'm too bad in measuring actual conversions, but I believe for this type of product (challenge/community for founders) Twitter is a great audience

I had similar price on Reddit, but the audience there is more random

Signed up! I think what you offer with this challenge is very valuable.

I make me thinks Twitter ads is not that good if you have a 1$ CPC with such a good "offer".

Looking forward to start the challenge!

oh Omar thank you so much, I didn't plug a link to not be too salesy, but I'm happy that you've joined!

Good to know - was thinking of getting into Twitter ads too. Seems like an alright CPC :)

yeah, if your advertising to the audience that is on twitter (in my case it's early-stage founders / startup people) it's a good place to test!

it's a good visibility — my post got around 70k promoted views

I always wanted to test this; what kind of configurations does Twitter give you? Country, language, etc?

    1. 2

I've selected around 10 countries (US, UK and countries in Europe), English as a language and I've added 5 accounts in "followers like" section (some big accounts like Justin Welsh and some smaller ones from my network)

How well did it perform as far as email signup?

    1. 2

Yes! Please share stats for email signup

      1. 2

that's the tricky part because we haven't configured it so can't tell the right numbers, sorry!

definitely our mistake to fix in the future

This is really AWEFUL, man! How come you claim this is any good result? You paid about 1 USD for clicks in an AWEARENESS campaign! With Facebook ads, these kinds of clicks cost 1-5 CENT each! You better watch some YouTube videos from Ben Heath or Jon Loomer to get in with the PROs.

I'm here to hear if it's a good result or if it's terrible!

Happy to learn that it seems overpriced!

I probably used a wrong term as I'm not a marketer. The ad was meant to get people to the website and apply to our startup program, so I believe it's not qualified as "awareness campaign" sorry for the confusion!

Will check YouTube videos, thank you for sharing!

      Any other tips?

So your goal (in the ad settings) was to collect the email? Then it´s a lead gen ad. On Facebook, I get these for 0.50 to 3.50 USD for pure lead ads.

But if your ad goal was awareness or traffic, then it is still an awareness campaign. So the goal matters a lot. Because the targeting is completely different, and the price (per action) depends completely on the goal you select.

        1. 1

          Yes, it was lead capturing

Sorry for the confusion with terms! But without this I wouldn't learned this data about awareness campaigns :)

So thank you for your input!
