I've built an app for financial planning based on my Google Spreadsheet template
For the past few years, I have been using Google Sheets to plan my finances. I started with a small file and over time it got more and more complex. At one point, I decided that it is better to build an app rather than trying to reinvent the wheel in Google Sheets.
FinancialAha! (https://www.financialaha.com/) is the app version of my personal finance planning spreadsheet (https://www.financialaha.com/financial-planning-template-spreadsheets/). There are still lots of things under progress, but it can be used for more than basic personal financial planning. At this moment, you can do asset tracking & history, cashflow and financial projections with goals.
Tech stack:
- Hugo with Tailwind for presentation and it is hosted on Netlify.
- Vue.js with Tailwind for the app itself, hosted on Firebase. No data is currently being sent over to the server.
It's all free and all data stays on your browser. Data privacy is at the core of the product.

Hi Stefan, that looks really cool! My wife and I still use google sheets for financial planning. I often think "maybe we should use an app for this instead" but I'm not sure we would want to move off of it. Have you found some paying customers? I hope yours works out!
Lots of people trying it. We don't charge for anything yet, although there is a pricing page on the website. Spreadsheets work up to a point - see my thoughts on https://www.financialaha.com/articles/financial-planning-software-or-spreadsheet/.
