I've made something that might help Indie Hackers be successful

I remember saying to myself "hmmm this should take about 3 months to build"

Spoiler: it took me 2 years.

2 f--u--l--l y--e--a--r--s.

And I've almost abandoned this project 10 times.

I'm sure a lot of folks here can identify with this situation.

Looking back at it, 80% of the progress was made in the last 20% of those passing years.

So I've asked myself,
.. what was missing during all this time? What was different in that last 20%?

  • Motivation?
No, I was super motivated at the beginning of the project (like every project), and then it decay, slowly

  • Time?
No, I've never been busier than this year. High-stress and high-responsibility job, and lots of time-consuming events

  • Skills?
No, my coding skills are pretty average. I didn't practice in a deliberated way for a while

After a lot of self-reflection, the solution was right in front of my eyes the whole time.
I mean, literally, the project folder on my computer desktop.

The app I've made was the cure of the problem and was the key to making fast progress.

Let me reframe it, the desired outcome you can get out of this app was the key that make me progress as quickly.

I've realized it too late.

I was so obsessed about releasing the app (goal), that it didn't cross my mind to use it to help me make progress.

It's not revolutionary, in fact, it's stupid simple.

Consistency, compound interest, and engagement. That's all.

All you have to do is small actions every day, and track your consistency to become a real Indie Hacker.

That's what my app does => help you achieve identity changes through successful habits, by valuing consistency over performance.

What I did was work on this side project for only 20min a day and tracked each instance using it.

Before that, I was working 5 hours straight once a month, when I had small bursts of motivation. No tracking.

Big and sudden just doesn’t work, slow and steady does.

This app helps you become a better version of yourself this way, and I hope it can help frustrated Indie Hackers like I was

If you want to try it, I'm launching a closed beta:

Cheers!

Sounds like James Clear would like it (author of Atomic Habits). Maybe he can pitch it in his newsletter.

      Yes that would be awesome

I'm sure it's pretty hard to get in touch with him since his audience is huge (600k on Twitter)

But I like to remind myself that if you don't ask ..
      the answer is always no!
