I've redesigned our website from scratch. Is going 100% custom worth it? (pls roast it)

After hundreds of hours, three different webflow devs, and a few thousand dollars, we finally finalized our new design and messaging. πŸ’…

It makes me wonder, is going 100% custom without using a theme worth it? There are just so many things that can go wrong and it requires so much more time/money.

What do you think, is it worth it?

Also, please go ham and roast it!

I've been in web design/development for about 15 years now so I'm completely biased when I say custom is worth it.

Templates are great when you want to spin up something fast, but you end up looking the same as everyone else with no unique style. Under the hood you're also subject to whatever has been added without your knowlege. I don't have experience with webflow, but wix sites for example load clunky scripts on your pages that slow down your site negatively affecting the user experience.

Overall I really like your site. It feels similar to other sites in terms of components, but you've really put your own spin on it and have a nice looking brand. I spotted a couple of things for improvement, the most noticeable being the "Recent Work" title and tagline. Is it supposed to be italic? I don't see any other italic headings so it sort of stands out as wrong. Your brand logos carousel is also far too small, I can't read any of the companies you've worked with.
