I saw this tweet. What does everyone here think?
I doubt OP is really serious about JavaScript being dead (he says he's shit-posting in his bio).
Either way, I don't see JavaScript going out of style. I got to defend it.
People love PHP, and it's fine, but I'll always prefer HTML/CSS/JS and not HTML/CSS/PHP.
Javascript will never die as long as browsers exist.
I'm more worried about JavaScript killing me at this point 😅
JS does have the major advantage of eliminating the context switch between server-side languages (Python/Rust/etc.) and the browser, because you can use Node.js on the server.
With the growth of Deno and TypeScript, JavaScript is going very strong.
But on the other hand, WebAssembly is making JavaScript less relevant even for browsers, because you can code in your favorite language and compile down to JS via WASM.
Hi,
JavaScript is not dead. Its is very popular for web programing.
Thanks
Before NodeJS there was a chance that JS could have died without Browser support, but seeing NodeJS popularity, I don't think JS will ever die.
I'm a long time JS Developer and I've been using ReScript for a project; and wow it's so much better.
Having a language with static types is a game changer.
I think old JavaScript is dead.
The current form of JavaScript with extensions will be around for a while (ECMA-262)
I think that...
JS engines will slowly add more wasm features and other languages will slowly take over the webspace (llvm cranelift / WASI)
JS outside the browser will be on the way out as well, with more and more tooling being built in other languages (Vercel using Rust for their compiler tool chain, Deno built with rust has support for TS built-in, Go for API development, 'no code' tools gluing together wasm functions)
Optimizations like FJCVTZS in hardware and graalVM in software will keep it afloat for longer, but 'JavaScript' will eventually turn into Java 8 or Delphi
I think JavaScript is now more popular and more widely used than ever.
Just generating virality with that tweet nothing more. No one thinks JavaScript is dead.
Obvious troll
It’s not going anywhere.
I’m 100% betting on web tech for my products.
Being a zealot about certain tools is so weird. If it solves an issue use it. Claiming Rails, JS, or whatever dead is utterly stupid. Your language/framework is not a personality trait.
