I'm thinking of building a job board platform. A user could sign up, connect their stripe account, pick a theme and have their own functioning job board. They could then use that job board to charge customers for advertising jobs. Essentially my users will have a ready made business.
I've got a domain picked out and will be launching a holding page to gather email addresses soon. I'll use this to gauge the interest in the product and decide if I should proceed with building it.
What do you think of my idea? Would you pay for something like this?
Hey @ThePaulMcBride I know this was a few years back but would love to discuss with you and others on this thread. Why not build a scraper that can grab the jobs from all of the various sites.. I'm sure that's a lot of work but seems like it would solve a meatier problem for a new job board.
Hi Paul.
I do something similar with https://www.boardengine.io with not that much success. But I do it as a side project, not enough time to promote it etc. So I wish you better luck 👍
Honestly not sure if the money is in starting a job board platform or the job boards them selves. There is a ton of money in job boards if you find the right market. The revenue seams pretty steady if you can carve out your niche.
Is there a reason you want to start a job board service? Was this personally you ran into?
I run a job board for developers in Northern Ireland (wecodeni.com). It works well and makes me some pocket money each month. I get asked a lot by friends if I can clone it and spin it up for them for a different niche. I've also wanted to do the same, but there is a lot of work in it.
I figured that even if no one buys it, I can use it to create job boards in other niches really easily.
What would you say makes up most of your revenue for your job board?
It all comes from users paying for job postings
I've considered starting a job board myself, so if you end up building it and need a guinea pig, count me in :)
Yeah given your use case, and your experience in the space I think that sounds like an fun idea. You're solving your own problem, and as you mentioned even if it only helps you its still a win.
We offer something quite similar with our website builder. You can check
https://www.vevs.com/job-portal-websites/
and I arrange a free 1-year account if it works for you!
Hey Veslin,
You're right, it is pretty similar. What has your experience been like selling something like that. Do you think there is demand for a job board platform?
It's not one of our most popular products :)
Someone built this not too long ago, I remember seeing it on PH. Not sure if it's still around.
I feel like the "job posting" space is so saturated.. how many job boards do we need? How many are actually profitable and receive high traffic. Just my thoughts but it seems like someone launches a new job board every day.
That is a very valid point, thanks for the feedback. I'd be interested in seeing the other service if you happen to remember the name.
Found it, here you go:

Brilliant! Thanks :)
There is https://seeker.company also which hosts job boards.
