I am building a job board and I was checking any information related to job board business before I start. Sadly I couldn't find much.
I think the biggest reason is that people think job boards as an "upsell" or "extra feature" rather than a whole business model.
But I believe there is a huge potential in this "business model". So I set a Job Boards group. If you are interested in sharing your experience or thinking about starting a job board business, you are welcome as well :)
Note: I build a job board with literally 0 followers on socials. Let's see how much I will get successful 💪

Not sure about the legality of it, but I have seen several job boards in my home country scraping other job portals, working mostly as an aggregator (at some point they redirect you to the original website)
Yeah, that's true. This step is important to get some initial traffic until you build your authority.
Hey Emre - Any updates on your job board ideas? I'm looking to build one out for an established audience but I'm not a developer and exploring several ideas. Just popping in here on IH to see what other people are working on in the space
I was also interstedin job boards but particularly in the one page version. Have you seen anything connected with them @emredemirel ?
Well, most of the niche job boards are those one-pagers. I think it's mostly because of remoteok's success :)
But I am learning in hard way that there is no job board which is the first product of the founder. They have always built on top of existing audience. I am kind of fiddling around and solving this issue by myself at the moment with my non-existent audience :)

I'm reading your post after 2 years. Have you had success? How is the progress so far?
Hey, so I was trying hard to turn the concept into reality. Introduced important work-life metrics like gender ratio, LGBTQ friendliness for companies, and even written interviews from a couple of high stake companies and their hiring processes. At one point it got too tiring doing all those stuff on top of feeding the job board itself + constantly improving the product itself.
Another small thing, people always talked about they care about where they work which led me to introduce dozens of new metrics from gender ratio to crunch hours to historical layoff trackers etc. But once they come to the website, they rarely visit or even checked that information :)
One day, I was creating humorous indeed, LinkedIn, and, glassdoor job posts as a publicity/marketing stunt. And I was like, "I don't want to do it." Maybe if it'd started as a content hub where I post stuff like Dilbert comics and do those, and consider a job board after, it could have been successful.
Sadly, I proved to myself that the job board has to be on top of an existing community. You simply can't kickstart it without having at least a couple thousand people around you :) (Unless you have couple hundred grand you can throw at paid ads and stuff)
