Join our very first Indie Hackathon!
We're kicking off our #indiehackathon! Join fellow digital indie makers for a full day of building and shipping products and have some fun while you're at it.
We use the term "hackathon" loosely. You can work on any personal project and set any goal. You can work alone or in groups. You can put a huge dent on a large product, or you can resolve to take a product from 0 to shipped in one session.
The main goal of this #indiehackathon is to give indie makers a dedicated time and shared virtual space to create digital products.
To keep everyone on their toes, we'll announce 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners at the end and give out ca$h prizes.

Looks good. Always liked to go to in person hacks but it's gotten a bit harder now haha and I feel like I'm getting too old for all nighters 😱
Same! Also all the hacks I've been to have focused on building solutions for large companies. I want this one to focus on building personal indie products. And also to maintain the laid back indie vibe, because we're all exhausted enough as it is haha. I hope you join us. :)
I've been to 3 hackathons while in college and they've grown to leave a bad taste in my mouth because they're almost exclusively about recruiting. People bring their resumes these days and all the challenges are tied to using a company's product. It's barely about learning anymore.
Lol. Also people bringing their half finished projects and acting like they made it all there but at the end of the day you can do whatever you want.
You might not win the prize but you can still focus on learning whatever you want if you find some people willing to do the same.
Yeah - I hear you. And I might even change the name from "hackathon" to something else in the future because it's more of a large co-working gathering with a competitive aspect - and very indie-focused. Not a promotion/recruitment machine.

Charge a fee for hackathon? Why not free?
Because it's a small social event with no sponsors (yet!) and it's largely for the edification of the attendants - as opposed to that of a company looking for a solution to a problem.
