Joon - Our untraditional ProductHunt launch today

I have an untraditional ProductHunt launch story that I thought I'd share!

A few weeks ago, @kevinbunarjo and I were talking abut launching our app on ProductHunt. But, I held back because I wanted to improve the apps onboarding experience before doing so. In my mind, it was super important for the app to be improved before launching.

Last night at around 10PM @kevinbunarjo and I were chatting about how we felt we had fallen in a bit of a rut. We hadn't fixed the onboarding experience, and we hadn't been talking to users or building new features in general within the past 2 weeks. I personally felt like my energy levels were low (working a full-time job and working on two side projects takes a toll), and he felt similar.

After talking, we listed out a bunch of different things we could do and started hyping each other up. 10:30PM hit and we were in some type of high-energy mood, and we thought "should we just launch on ProductHunt?"

No planning, no preparation, we just wrote the ProductHunt post in 15 minutes. We scheduled it for 12AM today, and went to bed with zero expectations.

Short to say, I woke up surprised to find we were in the top 10 considering our lack of preparation. I had personally read so many posts about the importance of planning, considering getting a hunter, and the preparation that should go into it.

We're no longer in the top 10, but we're stoked about the feedback we've received and the surprising moderate success. I'm not sure if this is helpful, but for me, it was definitely revealing. I was sure that without the proper planning and preparation that we would surely fail, but this proved that wrong.
