I needed to survey the developers on my team. Simple stuff — what's working, what's not, how can we improve. What is our future focus.
Typeform wanted €29/month because I'd get more than 10 responses. For a quick internal survey. Pass.
Found a free tool instead. Nice enough (won't name any names since they are also indiehackers). But then I spent 30 minutes choosing fonts. Adjusting spacing. Picking colors. Wondering if the button should be blue or green.
I caught myself and thought: why am I doing this? Nobody filling out this survey cares about the font. I just want to know if the standups are too long.
That's when I realized the problem isn't any specific tool. It's that they all assume you want control. And I don't. I just want to write questions and have it look fine.
So I've been building TofuSurveys on the side. The main feature is what's missing: no theme settings, no color picker, no font selector. You write questions. It looks good (atleast according to me). Done.
Maybe that sounds limiting. It probably is, for some use cases. If you need brand guidelines or corporate styling, this isn't for you.
But if you're like me — someone who just wants to ask questions and get answers without the fiddling — maybe give it a look.
No pricing steps have been set yet. For now it works. If anyone wants to try out the UTM and analytical capabilities shoot me a DM and I'll switch the pro on for free (although I do hope you can give me some feedback).
Congrats on the launch! Out of curiosity, which analytics metric ended up being the biggest eye-opener for you, retention, activation, or something unexpected?
