Just launched a motorcycle marketplace. I'd love to know your thoughts

Hey!

I've been working on a website for buying and selling motorcycles for a while now and I'm finally at the point where I'm able to launch it.

I'd love to hear your initial impressions of it.

Quality is one of the key foundations I'm aiming for. Do you feel that the content I've setup is in line with that goal?

You can check it out at ridersend.com

Thanks!

Looks great! As someone else mentioned I think having a random selection of 3-5 motorbikes on the home page might make it that bit more engaging for the user! It does look clean and professional and the adding of a new bike looks simple which is also key :)

Really cool website! I like how you have made adding a listing not require signing up.

Someone already suggested adding featured listings, but what about highlighting the interest a specific listing has received in other ways as well? For example when someone opens a listing, a very small, non-invasive pop-up / modal that does not interfere with the viewing would highlight that this listing has been among the top 10% of the most popular during this week and so on. It could encourage people to take action now.

    Good luck to your venture!

Good start, I have a question!
Is this an aggregator? I tried to purchase a bike and it send me to the page of a retailer...how do you make money out of this? I see a button to add a motorbike to sell...
One more question - is there a way where you can verify that I am a human the first 1-2 times with captcha and then that's it? it makes for a much smoother experience

      Nope, not an aggregator 🙂
I've pulled some listings from a few different dealers just to get some content on the site. The end goal is to have everything be submitted by users themselves.
Honestly, I'm not worried about making money out of this right now, I'd rather get my user base growing first. I have a few ideas in my head for the future, though.

The captcha experience is a great point! I'll definitely look into improving it. Thanks for the feedback.

Looks good! Maybe at some point add an option to sort by price, distance, and recency of listing.

      Thanks!
Sorting is definitely on my to-do list. Couldn't imagine a marketplace without one 🙂

Your UX is cleaner and feels far more up to date than the legacy vehicle trading themed sites I've seen in the past. Is there anything additional you could add to your homepage beneath the 'Get Started' section? Maybe a list of featured motorcycles, or some clean infographics that explain how you're different than other sites your users might be visiting?

Great idea. The homepage does feel a little bit empty right now.
Featured motorcycles sounds like an awesome eye-catcher! Infographics would definitely help as well. Thanks for the advice!

My first impression is I want the biggest, badass mother of a motorcycle photo as the first thing I see.

      Love it!
The first design iteration I tried actually had just that, though I wasn't able to get it to look quite right.
I should definitely try to put it back in :)
