Just launched: Brzzy Weather v1.15 – Duolingo meets weather

I just dropped Brzzy Weather v1.15, the biggest update yet for a weather app that refuses to be boring. I launched V1 in September 2024.
Why I built Brzzy:
I’ve always loved checking the weather… but hated how soulless most weather apps feel. The data’s useful, but the experience? Meh. I wanted something that felt immersive. Fun, take the edge off, even a little quirky to mix up my daily weather routine.
So I started Brzzy: a weather app that brings the forecast to life with gifs.
Subscribe to Brzzy+ to add your own gif tags. Ex: Star Wars, ConeHeads, Bluey, SNL, anything you can think of!!!!!
What’s new in v1.15:
🌞 Daily Streaks & XP Levels – Check your forecast daily to build a streak and level up. The longer you stick with it, the more Brzzy rewards you. And beware if you don't check the weather......
📯 Smart Notifications – You choose your voice: funny, snarky, or professional.
⚔️ Double-Tap Favorites in the Places Tab – Fast travel between your favorite weather zones with a simple double-tap.
🌪️ Radar (Coming Soon) – Live Mapbox-powered radar with temperature and wind overlays for current and favorite places.
💬 Sticker Pack – Because if you're not sending weather-themed stickers with our mascot Brzzy, are you even forecasting?
Why it matters:
I think weather can be more than just utility. It can be a reason to smile, share, and even build habits around being more present. Brzzy’s turning everyday weather checks into tiny quests and v1.15 is a major step toward that.

Interesting take. What led you to think people want to get a "fun" experience out of a weather app?
People check the weather every day, but most apps feel dull. I saw how apps like Duolingo made routines fun, so I thought why not do the same for weather? It turns the daily check into something new and maybe even a little exciting.
Downloaded the app and dialed in my location. The information was accurate. The platform came off as whimsical and fun. Good luck with your project.

Such a cool app. I need a tutorial on how to do some of the stuff. I’m a little old school. Definitely brightens up my day when I get on the app though!!

I think it´s a really interesting Idea but arent weather Apps built into newer phones already? On my homescreen I can instantly see the weatherforecast for the next week so isn´t it more efficient to just use that?
Totally fair point, built in weather apps are efficient… kind of like vanilla ice cream. Reliable, gets the job done.
But not everyone wants vanilla every day. Some people want sprinkles, or cookie dough, or something that surprises them.
Brzzy’s for those people. It turns the forecast into a daily moment of fun, with streaks, GIFs, personality, and even rewards. It’s not just about efficiency, it’s about making something ordinary feel extraordinary.
