Just launched Courtdate aka HotelTonight for indoor basketball courts, soccer fields etc.

Courtdate - the sport space marketplace

Earlier in the week I launched my pandemic side project, Courtdate.io to my city. Courtdate is a new marketplace for on-demand sports facility rentals, no sweat. If you’re looking for a company analogy I like to think of it as a happy combination of Airbnb and HotelTonight for sports spaces.

Inspiration

The idea for Courtdate came last year after I tried to rent a basketball court at a local gym for a one time reservation. 4 weeks, 3 phone calls, 2 voicemails, and 1 cash transaction (coins included!) later & I had finally reserved the gym. There had to be a way to do this on the internet, right? Turns out not really. Like so many Indie Hackers I decided to take a crack at building a solution myself. What else was I going to do this year in quarantine?

Two sided marketplaces are notoriously hard to get started which is why we decided to exclusively launching only to Nebraska, starting first in the Omaha metro area. This will let us focus on what works (and doesn't work) before we expand to other places.

Admittedly COVID has been a complicating factor in getting traction early but in the spirt of launching early and often I decided to just send it this week and release the product before I had my first customer. I would love any and all feedback & in particular am interested in figuring out new growth/marketing channels & tactics for filling initial supply which for Courtdate is indoor athletic facilities.
