We built a tool for ourselves that went wild on Product Hunt, and 0 to paying users in under a week. Here's how it happened - looking for feedback and ideas!
We were sick of fighting with prompts.
So we built a tool to fix it.
My co-founder, Charlie, and I kept getting stuck on the same thing: Writing better prompts.
You know the drill:
โข You get a good idea
โข You fire up ChatGPT
โข You type something out
โข Itโsโฆ meh.
So, we did what any sleep-deprived founders would do: ๐๐๐ถ๐น๐ ๐ผ๐๐ฟ ๐ผ๐๐ป ๐๐ผ๐ผ๐น. Over a weekend.
No fluff. No fancy pitch decks. No looking for funding. Just a scrappy MVP we wished existed. We called it ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ฒ๐๐๐ ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ๐ฝ๐. Think Grammarly, for prompting.
Launched it on Product Hunt โ 10k improved prompts in the first week.
And hereโs the crazy part: 30% daily growth since launch.
(!!!)
Turns out, a ๐ญ๐ฐ๐ต of people were feeling this pain. No idea how it got there, but people are making TikToks of it! (And I don't even have TikTok ๐ซ ).
It's super straightforward.
A Chrome Extension to help you (us) write better prompts, faster.
Would love to share it with the IndieHacker community, and if people want, I'll create a discount code just for the community.
Would love to hear your thoughts!
(You can try it out without even logging in.)
Strong momentum. To sustain it, Iโd make the value prop painfully specific on the homepage (who itโs for, what improves, and one concrete output example). โBetter promptsโ is broad; a narrow first wedge tends to convert better. Happy to share a concise teardown: https://roastmysite.io/go.php?src=ih_prettyprompt_20260327_a3
Just saw the demo video on your website. This is really cool.
Love how Product Hunt worked for you. Might give it a shot for what we are building. Does it have to be fully built before using Product Hunt?
I always think ship yesterday, is better than shipping tomorrow. But with that said, I would only push to Product Hunt if you think the minimum value is there. Or if you want to use the launch as a testing to see what people say/think/and how they use it.
Worst case, you do another launch after! It's never a one-off :)
Also - give Pretty Prompt a go and let me know what you think!
