The moment I realized the problem
Talk to any solo remodeling contractor and you will hear the same story. They finish a job, the client is happy, the work looks great — and then they sit down to run the final numbers and realize they barely made anything.
Not because they are bad at their trade. Because they had no visibility into their costs while the job was running.
Why existing software fails them
The options available today fall into two categories. Enterprise platforms like Buildertrend and Procore are powerful but built for large firms with dedicated project managers and office staff. A solo contractor drowns in features they will never use and pays $300-$500 a month for the privilege.
On the other end are basic invoicing tools like Joist or QuickBooks. Good for sending a bill. Useless for tracking whether a job is actually profitable while it is still running.
Nobody was building for the middle — the solo contractor running a $500K remodeling business alone.
What I built
RemodelFin is a job costing and profit tracking platform built specifically for that contractor. It tracks labor, materials, and subcontractor costs against your estimate in real time. You see exactly where your margin stands while the job is still open — not after you send the final invoice.
It also handles change orders, draw billing, and post-project profitability reports. Starting at $29/month.
Where I am today
Just launched on Product Hunt and Capterra. No users yet. Looking for the first 10 solo contractors willing to try it free and give honest feedback.
If you know anyone in the remodeling trade, I would genuinely appreciate an introduction.
Swap your headline from "Built for elite remodeling contractors." to "Bids shrinking your margins?" because ego copy ignores active profit loss.
This is a simple gift from me to you, that's it.
You may or may not use it, but either way, it's yours completely. Enjoy.
