Hi everyone 👋
I recently launched Snow Day Calculators, a weather-focused project that helps students, parents, and teachers estimate the chances of a snow day based on local winter conditions.
The idea came from a simple question many families ask during winter:
"Will school be canceled tomorrow?"
To help answer that, I built:
✅ Snow Day Predictor
✅ Snowfall Information Tools
✅ Winter Weather Guides
✅ School Closure Resources
✅ Educational Content About Snow & Weather
One challenge has been combining weather data with a simple user experience that anyone can understand in seconds.
Current focus areas:
Improving prediction accuracy
Growing organic traffic through SEO
Expanding winter weather content
Adding more location-specific resources
I'd love feedback from fellow founders on:
First impressions of the site
Ways to improve user engagement
Growth channels beyond SEO
Features you'd like to see added
Always happy to connect with other builders and share lessons learned along the way. Thanks for reading! 🙌
One thing I find interesting about products like this is that people don't always use predictions for the reason they claim to.
On the surface, someone wants to know whether school will be canceled.
In practice, they may be using the prediction to decide how much uncertainty they're willing to tolerate before making plans.
Those aren't quite the same thing.
That distinction ended up feeling more interesting to me than the forecasting challenge itself.
