Do people with pools really care about tracking? Is it not test, add chlorine, wait X hours test again than either done or repeat?
I love tracking but this sounds much unless you wifi the sensor and just send me push notifications when it's time to act

Yes, the AirBnb for pools is one vision I've considered. A decentralized pool service on demand seems to make sense in the world today of so many pool companies and options and needs.
There are 6 basic tests that pool people need to track. Total Chlorine, Free Chlorine, Calcium Hardness, pH, Total Alkalinity, and Cyanuric acid. They must be kept in balance to minimize maintenance and damage to pool equipment. Tracking is essential and keeping this balanced even more so, which is why a little less than half of Americans pay a service to take care of their pools. The real value Pooli provides me (a pool owner), and hopefully many others, is the ability to get the right product and amount immediately after testing. This will save hours of time/month in summer months shopping around, finding deals, and acquiring chemicals from pool stores or searching the droves of online purchasing options.
The next big feature I'm working on is an accurate test strip scan technique, I have the solution in mind, but it's going to take about a month to implement, and should be a lot of fun when it's ready!
I understand what you say as an expert in that, I would do people actually do it or just let their pool be sub optimal?..
Doing like a recurring send me a kit/reminder to test, oh the value is off, buy this - that's a great module.
Making me type the stick is greenish 5.3, who cares.
Just give put a line next to the 5.3 with the product needed.

I am betting the vast majority of people will want their water balanced. Things will get unsafe and expensive very quickly otherwise.
I agree with the kit and reminder to test...I've assembled a bunch of test strip kits to hand out at pitch competitions etc. The reminders are not built out yet. I want to be able to remind on anything useful. Algaecide, testing, and any maintenance are the low hanging fruit.
The last part of your comments are very interesting to me. People want their pools to be smart. They don't want to have to do anything, unfortunately the reliability of automated testers right now is far from perfect. I would love to partner with a hardware specialist at some point to start down that road.
I've gone through quite a bit of effort to make the entering teststips is as easy as possible with the tech I have now.
I think what's missing is the reminder as you say, and an instructional video.
The chart is interesting idea I've never thought of. It also may make great marketing collateral. Showing the different chemicals needed on each side of a balanced pool equation could be visually appealing.

How about you just let me send you a water sample in the mail? then you send me an email with what I need. (you supply the containers and envelopes..)
And send me a reminder for the next sample date, just mail me a new container and envelope.
You can also sell&send me the right amounts for today so I don't need to store all of these things around just because it's suppose to be cheaper in bulk...
Get a package don't think, don't measure, just drop it in.

The goal for me is to lower the cost of pool ownership drastically. Using pooli will save you $1000 dollars a year vs hiring a service.

Yes, any size body of water is supported! Depending on the tub you got, it's probably fiberglass, and we use slightly different default chemical targets for fiberglass siding than say concrete, the targets are entirely configurable. Depending on how often you drain and refill your tub, you probably can keep chlorine targets even lower than recommended. I would set your targets to .5 - 1.5 ppm, and I bet that would be good to keep the algae away in a smaller body of water!
