Just shipped my landing page and need some honest feedback

Hey all, Happy New Year! ๐ŸŽ‰

I've spent the last few days putting together a landing page for Probe, and I'd appreciate your honest thoughts on it! To give you an idea, Probe is an AI tool that conducts customer discovery interviews for you, so you can ship products people want faster.

You can give it a look here: https://heyprobe.com/home

Any feedback is super appreciated, but I'd especially love to hear:

  • After going through the landing page, did you personally want to use Probe? Why, or why not?
  • What do you think would be the #1 thing stopping you from buying or using Probe?

Don't be afraid to be honest with your feedback! Thanks in advance for your help & happy hacking in 2024 :)

How long did it take you to build this idea?

    1. 1

I built out a prototype in 2 weeks, then an MVP in around 2-3 weeks. Only reused ~2% of the prototype code for the MVP.

Congrats on the launch! It's a very interesting concept and I'd probably use it, but I tried it on the landing page, and it was not reliable. It asked the same question 3 times, which made me close it.

      Thanks Dan :)

Interesting bug! I've done over 1k tests and never seen that one before (unless I give Probe a reply doesn't answer the question it asked).

Might be an issue with the demo in particular, I'll look into it! Thanks for the catch ๐Ÿ”ฅ

    Looks crispy clear & awesome!

If I am not wrong, it is something similar to getspatial. I am not allowed to post the whole link, but the concept looks the same. I can try using it for trial runs or internal stakeholder interviews, still do not have the confidence to use it on external customers. If you add lots of use cases and social proof, then it might help in gaining confidence quickly.

    1. 2

      Thanks for the feedback :)

Getspatial does look like a pretty similar concept - appreciate you sharing it. Bright side: I took a look at their pricing and it's about 16x more expensive per interview!

      1. 1

you are right! they are pretty expensive..

Would like to explore and subscribe, whenever you launch :) Best wishes

          Appreciate it my friend ๐Ÿ™Œ

P.S. it's launched, if you still want to give it a go!

          1. 1

Congrats on the launch! Interesting concept :)
            Best wishes

    It looks awesome, Congratulations!!!
Im newbie in saas projects, i started learning coding, before starting i wanted know what kind of tech stacks have you used to make this product. Answer will help me to choose my way. Thank you

    1. 1

Thanks, I'm glad you like it!

      I built Probe using:

      • Javascript/Typescript
      • React.js
      • Tailwind CSS
      • Firebase

Awesome stack for building fast and with minimal frustration. I learned web dev on scrimba.com - can't recommend it enough - and this stack worked great for me as someone with minimal backend knowledge. Best of luck ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hey, I've taken a quick look at the page. Everything is really clear product wise, no complaints there.

The thing that bothers me the most is that I'm not sure if I'd be comfortable with trusting my customer discovery to a chat bot. Especially if I'm still validating the idea. I'd rather spend a few extra hours and talk to people in person, that instead relying on a chat bot

    1. 1

      That's a really good point.

Think I may have botched the positioning here. I don't want to build a pure replacement for customer interviews, but a tool for rapid customer discovery - especially for indie makers. They can use it alongside discovery interviews and/or as a means to quickly validate assumptions.

Think I'll rework the copy in the coming days. Thanks for your help :)

      1. 1

Hey Aleksa, updated the copy and would love you to take a look :)

It looks great Savannah! From my view some engagement is missing. Wording is right but It's also cold when you land there. Just my suggestion =)

    1. 1

      Thanks Germรกn :)

Just to make sure I understand fully - does the wording itself feel a bit cold/unfriendly?

      1. 1

Not. I'm talking about the design. I feel it's missing people faces, devices, gradients. Again, it's just my view.

Congratulations! It looks awesome. The chat interface didn't load for me immediately -- was that on purpose?

One small suggestion is to make the logo bigger/more prominent -- I found myself looking for it.

    1. 1

      Thanks Mik!

I hadn't noticed how small the logo was - good eye! I'll bump up the size a bit.

That delay was probably from the cloud function's cold start. Do you think it detracted from the website? If so, I have a quick fix in mind ;)

It's actually really good for idea generation. ChatGPT 3.5 is very bad at it, not sure about v4 though...

    1. 1

Thanks! You'll basically end up with ~hundreds of quotes about your audience's problems. From there, I've found that idea generation becomes 10x easier & more straightforward.

Congrats on the launch. Seems like a cool idea. I tried it for recruitment tool which I am working on. I like the minimalistic design.
2 things that I would like to highlight. 1) The responses page is not updating real time, so this should be mentioned somewhere on that page so that the client can manually refresh it. 2) I don't see the end of the interview. Not sure sure how many more questions will come. This might irritate the interviewee.
Anyways interesting concept with practical use case.

    1. 1

Hey, thanks for trying it and for sharing feedback, I appreciate it :)

      A couple questions for you:

      • Just to clarify, when the response page didn't update in real time, did you have two tabs open at the same time: (1) the interview response page, and (2) the interview itself?
      • There's a progress bar at the top that shows how much of the interview you've completed. Did you not notice it was there, or was it the lack of a % complete number that made it hard to see how many questions were left?
