I just found one of our earliest milestones here on IndieHackers. It's from almost 4 years ago!
We processed $300 and got to keep 15% of it ($45)
I felt like a superstar writing that down. I had just made the equivalent of a nice dinner online 🎉
But 4 years is a long time. During the process and hard growth pains I felt like giving up all the time. At times I felt bad about my product, cause friends had started theirs and quickly overtook me in MRR. I wasn't sure whether the whole thing made sense. But I persisted!
Last week, I caught myself saying.
Oh, MentorCruise Sessions is no big deal, it just makes like $2,500 per month on its own.
Not a big deal when your primary product makes more than that – but a reason to think about the progress nevertheless. Just about two years ago, while Covid was hitting us with that first wave, MentorCruise made $1,000 in revenue in one month and had me jumping around the house. Two years before that, I wrote that milestone about $45 I just made.
And it all comes down to one thing: Resilience and not giving up. While others speed by you left and right, run your own tempo, blinders on, just pushing ahead. Shipping, testing, learning. Shutting things down when they don't work, experimenting, doing new things.
I am sure you'll be able to crush your goals if you just keep at it, not paying attention to others.
And so, while I've been in blind shipping mode for the past 12-24 months, I'm even more excited to update my milestone with new numbers.
We processed $81,973.70 and got to keep 17% of it ($14,184.07)
Amazing milestone. To the next several X. Congrats.
