$10,000 MRR in five months. That's worth celebrating. But gratitude isn't easy for @Kevcon80 of Software Ideas because, like many founders, he always has his eyes on the next goal. Here's why he makes it a priority:
To be honest, I think I've just gotten used to the growth rate of the project. It's not that I'm not surprised, it's more that I've learned that this project is consistently blowing up beyond my expectations. So one thing I'm working really hard on is being more grateful and present when the business hits these milestones.
It's so hard to celebrate as a founder, especially in this early stage where I really want to keep the momentum going. I'm so goal-focused and it often feels like it's not 'enough'. But when I take a step back, it's easy to see how that mindset is not helpful. It's much better to be appreciative of how far I've come. To recognize that I've built something worthwhile. There's no need to rush it.
I've been writing in a gratitude journal every day, just to help me remember what a blessing it is to be chasing a dream and making real progress towards it. I've noticed that I become more present just through the experience of asking myself what I'm grateful for. Instead of looking at the future, I'm able to become more rooted in the present.
I just hit $10,000 per month and I'm only five months in. That's something to celebrate.
