Hi Fellows!
I'm sure you're really into your project and you're putting a lot of effort into it.
Nevertheless there is one thing you should be aware of, when launching your side-hustle: check if you're suffering from the shiny objects syndrome. It's one of the biggest unknown challenges for indiehackers and side-hustlers to stumble over and fail.
What is it about? Simply said, the shiny objects syndrom is responsible that you switch your focus that fast from one topic/project to the next without finishing just one single project to the end, because something new and "shiny" is entering your focus.
In the past I was suffering to that weird "illness" without even know it for many years. I started to do some research and I found some evidence what I was looking for. I started different ideas with a high level of motivation, but none of them didn't work out on a scalable level, because there happened a focus switch to something new and more exciting. Annoying, but psychological explainable (see https://www.forbes.com/sites/jodiecook/2023/02/20/shiny-object-syndrome-the-biggest-problem-for-todays-entrepreneurs/). I made it, and was able to overcome that syndrome by focusing lasersharp to less, clear defined ideas and projects.
All what I want is, be aware of that syndrome, you should know that it exists and that it could be relevant of you fail or make it, because if you know your enemy you can fight against.
I hope this short input makes you a better Indiehacker. 💪🏻
Anyone else who is suffering from or suffered the shiny object syndrome? What was your experience?
