Hey all,
Had an idea for a product and started working on it last week. I haven't gotten too far yet, but thought I should go ahead and start building a landing page so I could put it up and get some market validation. I would appreciate it if you could give me your opinion on the landing page so far, and the product idea. Just a few things to add:
- I'm still working on the title, any suggestions are more than welcome
- I figure I should probably come up with a logo? Or is it okay to launch without one
- Sign up doesn't actually do anything yet
- If my description of the product isn't clear enough please let me know
- Currently building the landing page on webflow, but would it be better/cheaper to just code it myself and host it on netlify?
Thanks in advance!

All I would say is that I don't really know what your product does that Spotify's many dynamically generated playlists don't (for example they currently give me five new ones a day...). What do you know that they don't?
If you know or do something they don't, you should make that clearer in the proposition. I don't see what problem it's solving right now.
Hope that's useful! (Tough love 😐)
It is useful, I appreciate the feedback. So the idea is to manage user created playlists. For example, my inspiration for the idea was my personal workout playlist. I got tired of a bunch of songs on it, but kept forgetting to go take them off and add some new songs to the list. Basically the goal is ease of management of your personal playlists. Do you think there's not much value in that?
I get ya. It may just be that I'm not your customer, but from speaking to Spotify folk in the past they have two fairly clear personas:
My guess is that your product kind of falls between them. If you've worked hard on your playlist, why would you then let another service take over? And if so, why trust yours over Spotify itself (Spotify radio is good, they bought Echonest for a reason...)
I suppose I would just make sure you're solving a problem for enough people that isn't being solved by Spotify.
I would come up with a logo before launching. It doesn't have to be anything too fancy, just something to unify the product's branding. I would whip something up in Inkscape for now.
One thing that jumps out to me: almost everyone is aware that spam email is everywhere. When you flesh out your signup, I wouldn't use the "Enter your email" form to begin the process, but rather a standard "Sign up" button that takes the user to the full form. If you keep the "Enter your email" form around, use it for a newsletter mailing list instead, alongside text saying "Keep in touch with Smartspot!" If you state your intent, it will seem much less like you're padding the contact lists of Nigerian princes.
Thanks, the logo is something that felt missing. I was looking at that space above the main heading and felt it would be good to have something there so I'll work on that. And thanks for the advice on the email signup, would adding a privacy policy like @BytePacketLabs recommended help?
That would help, but even a simple message saying what the email form is for would go a long way toward building trust with visitors. Right now it's just an instruction: enter your email. It's after the call to action, but it's unclear what the form actually does.
Makes sense. Thanks!
This is a great start!

The Needs Some Work:
This is a great effort and with a little more polish, you'll be on your way!
RIP my eyes.
Thanks for the feedback! In regards to your 2nd point, one of my concerns was that I was putting a landing page up too early, as I don't have screenshots or video that I can put up yet. My product isn't that far along so should I build it out more first?
About your 3rd point, I was actually concerned that the text I did have wasn't wordy enough and wouldn't do a good enough job of explaining the product. What do you think?
What I mean with screenshot or demo video is graphical explanation of your product. You can simply design it with Photoshop or xd. Alternatively you can copy dropbox's first demo video.
if you use screenshot then the 3rd point is very important.
Gotcha, thanks again!
I like it but I really dont know much about landing pages.
