Landing page feedback

https://www.krystal.works/

Hi there,

I hope you all are doing well! I'm a fellow indie hacker trying to build a new design business. Would love to get some landing page feedback from you all to see how i can further improve it before I launch it properly.

Thank you so much

Hey Mayank, a few quick wins:

    1. Hero clarity: "Design subscription for startups" is clear but cold. Try framing the outcome: "Get design work done every month, no hiring required." People buy outcomes, not subscription models.

    2. Pricing: Your plans confused people in the thread — that's a signal. Simplify to 2 plans max, show exactly what's included, add a "Book a free call" CTA for the premium tier.

    3. Speed: PageSpeed picked up unoptimized images. Run them through Squoosh → WebP. Mobile load time matters a lot for conversion.

    4. Mobile: Several alignment issues on phone. Test at 375px width — your spacing breaks in a few spots.

    5. Trust: You need at least 2 testimonials. Even if they're from free work — "Krystal Works delivered X in Y days" with a real name + photo.

I build landing pages in 48h (not templates — real code, 5 design styles). Happy to do a free hero section mockup for you. If you like it, we continue. If not, no hard feelings.

If you're looking to improve your landing page, one piece of advice is to make sure it clearly communicates the value proposition of your service. Be specific about what your design subscription offers and how it can benefit your customers. Additionally, make sure your call to action is prominent and encourages visitors to sign up for your service. Finally, consider adding some social proof, such as testimonials or case studies, to help build trust and credibility with potential customers. Good luck with your new design business!

Got it thanks so much!! I'll take your feedback and change up the content of the site. It seems like many people new to the subscription model may have difficulty understand what it exactly is from the way my content is built. I'll change that forsure. Appreciate it

Perhaps this echoes some of the comments in this thread. Love the clean and striking design, work needed for responsiveness and image optimisation, slightly slow loading on my network. Found the membership plans slightly confusing specifically the per-month payments and what they pertain to. Since design launches are one-offs which then unfold into maintenance with continuous improvements, I would've thought that there would be an initial bulk payment + improvement/maintenance fees. Either way, I think you should make it as clear as possible. This would also mean narrowing down your target audience.

    1. 1

Hmm, alright that makes sense, I'll add more detail to the membership plans to clarify what do they exactly mean. You are correct - Design is an iterative process and I think messaging around that should be included in the site. I appreciate your feedback :) Would love to connect on Twitter if possible too! - https://twitter.com/mayankk259

      1. 2

Yeah exactly. By all means, I've been in read-only mode until today so you're not gna be bombarded with tweets anyway.

        1. 1

          gotcha cool cool hahah

  4. 2

Got to www.awesomic.com and steal their strategy and marketing approach, they are doing exactly the same thing.

    1. 1

just looked at it and super surprised to see they are backed by YC. That's really cool. will definitely follow them more and what they are upto

      1. 1

Well it is a bit of a marketing sketch since they are ukrainian startup so they run them all over media as a YC support for ukraine... You can even find drama video on the main YC youtube channel.

        1. 1

damn that's crazy, although I don't really love their current website design. Plus the plans are per day - I mean realistically, I find it difficult to digest the people would be willing to keep making daily payments. what do you think? maybe weekly would be a better idea for people who don't have large design requests?

          1. 1

They use to have monthly plans as well and I am not sure what is the reason to remove that from plans...

            1. 1

Ok its billed monthly, you can see that under the daily prices.

              1. 1

ahh they could improve their messaging I guess. Of the top of homepage, it looks like a daily plan.

                1. 2

It can be in purpose for better conversion since it seems affordable 31/99$ per day. And if you break it down 1995/99 that's actually only 20 days of work in a month.

                  1. 1

True that, it could be possible

  5. 2

I love gradient background. What I feel is that showcase below can somehow get improved - maybe some motion or shape as it feels a bit like portfolio rather than service. I would maybe even go with categories of design as next and then down to examples in smaller size.

    1. 1

Thanks Raitis, apprecaite your feedback! this is the first draft, and I'll definitely add more animation states to the website to make it a bit more interactive. May I should add some animation to the images to like you said haha. When you say showcase, do you mean showcase in the hero section or the later 'Recent Work' part of the website

      1. 1

I was talking about the section right after the main headline - two images per row. This felt like "why" a bit and can make people think that what you do is offer custom design and this is your portfolio.

        1. 1

gotcha, I'll clarify that further. Thanks @RaitisSevelis!

  6. 2

This is a great landing page!
I'm just curious, how familiar are average customers/clients with the design subscription model? I run a software & product design agency and have been considering the subscription model, but I wonder if prospects need to be educated more on the concept (which could be a potential criticism of your landing page, because I'm note sure how clear this would be to someone who is used to the traditional service model and hasn't worked with a productized service before).

    1. 1

You can check Awesomic, they are doing well with subscription model. They are under the YC network.

      1. 1

        Thanks for sharing!

    2. 1

Hmm that makes sense. It seems like the way I've written the content is not the best for people new to design subscription business. I'll optimize this to make it more clear. If you are interested in the design subscription model, I would love to have a chat with you about your needs and how I could add value to your team :))

  7. 2

This is kind of unrelated to design, but I highly recommend you read the book Built To Sell. https://builttosell.com/

I'm not related to the author in any way, I just see a problem that you will potentially have that he describes very well.

Other than that, I think it looks good!

Just IMHO take out the Ticker Tape text.

    :)

    1. 3

built to sell is an iconic book. i've recommended it to multiple friends. great tip!

    2. 1

Thanks buddy! I'll definitely check out the book. Appreciate your feedback on the design :)

  8. 2

Check the site on mobile. There are a several alignment, spacing, and sizing issues.

I know what the offer is: Unlimited design for a monthly retainer. However, landing on the page and reading as an outsider the messaging is not as clear as it should be.

The Headline at the top is good: “Unlimited… Unlimited…”

The text below the headline needs to be rewritten, support and verify the headline.

    Like this:
“We offer unlimited design requests for a flat monthly price”

The Pricing button is not the right CTA. You have two CTAs to push:

    1. Hire me. Primary hard action you want a visitor to take. Directly makes you money.
    2. Book a free call. Secondary soft action. Requires no money upfront and moves the visitor down your sales pipeline.

    Good luck, hope that helps

    1. 1

Thanks Caleb for the feedback. I'll optimize the sites content as it does seem like it is difficult to understand as of now. I'll also optimize it on mobile too. Appreciate your feedback buddy!

  9. 1

Hi, I think the colors are too strong, perhaps lighter colors would be better.

  10. 1

    Hey Mayank,
Good design. Love the bold colors.

    A Few pointers
    Add some Social Proof
In the A-Z section, I was looking for services to be ordered A-Z :)
The Marquee (scrolling) Text is a bit disturbing as I found it hard to read.

    Good Luck!

  11. 1

Have you used Google lighthouse to check the healthiness of your page? The load isn't super fast

    1. 1

hmm I haven't tried that yet. I'll do so and check it out. Definitely need to improve the site load speed. Any more suggestions on how I could do so?

      1. 1

Try to see if you can further reduce the size of your media assets like images without compromising their quality. There are several tools in the market (I forgot the name of them...sorry) that can help achieve it!

  12. 1

Thanks for sharing! I really like the logo and the name, they have a nice flair. I'm more from the tech side of things and don't have much knowledge in design. From the landing page it didn't become clear to me what you are offering. However, while writing this I had kind of a revelation and finally got what you mean by design subscription ;) I would take the "The process explained" section to the top, but make it even simpler to understand. Maybe replace the large text at the top with something like "Get as many designs as you need by only paying a monthly fee."

    Keep up the good work!

    1. 1

yep based on all the feedback I've gotten, I definitely need to improve the way I convey the information to the end users. Thank you so much for the information haha

  13. 1

I found the landing page sometimes slow to load. This was confirmed by pagespeed insights.

    1. 1

Hmm got it. Thanks for the feedback! Any ideas on how I could further improve the page speed through webflow?

      1. 1

Here are some general steps (based on pagespeed insights) that you can take to improve the site's loading speed and overall user experience, I don't use webflow so I don't know if everything can be applied.

        • Serve images in next-gen formats: By using next-gen image formats like WebP and JPEG 2000, you can significantly reduce the file size of your images without compromising their quality. This, in turn, can help your website load faster and improve its overall performance.

        • Eliminate render-blocking resources: Make sure that your website's CSS and JavaScript files are not blocking the rendering of your page content. You can achieve this by using asynchronous or deferred loading for these resources, which allows the page to load the content first before loading the resources.

        • Ensure text remains visible during webfont load: When using web fonts on your website, make sure to use the font-display property to ensure that text remains visible while the web font is loading. This will prevent your website from displaying blank spaces where text should be while the font is loading.

        • Reduce the impact of third-party code: Third-party code, such as analytics scripts and social media widgets, can have a significant impact on your website's performance. To minimize this impact, consider using asynchronous loading for these resources or using a content delivery network (CDN) to cache them.

        • Image elements do not have explicit width and height: Make sure to specify the width and height of your image elements in HTML or CSS. This will allow the browser to reserve the space for the image while it loads, preventing the content from shifting around as the image is loaded.

        • Avoid enormous network payloads: Make sure that your website's network payloads are not too large. This can be achieved by compressing your files, minifying your code, and optimizing your images. You can also use a content delivery network (CDN) to deliver your content faster and more efficiently.

        1. 1

Thanks so much @Ishfx. These insights are absolutely amazing and I'll definitely make good use of these and try to implement to speed up the site. I did notice at times the site speed is a bit low. I think the webp image idea is a good one. Right now the images are either jpegs or pngs which may be the reason too. Appreciate your feedback! Would love to connect over twitter - https://twitter.com/mayankk259

    Hi,
Of course this is personal preference so feel free to ignore or take on board as you wish.

    Improvements:

    • There is no hover on any buttons (which is fine) but then in footer hovering buttons go black which is hard to see
    • In first card you have three of the same button "Book a call", personally would have one button centered beneath or below the cards.
    • Banner text is large/slow which my attention span is too short to read, so either have it smaller and same speed or same font size at larger speed.
    • Can also have the email in footer click to open a new email on my computer automatically
    • Recent work could be a side scroll carousel in future

    Positive:

    • Design is crazy nice. Really like the gradient background in hero, and would love to know the details on how you implemented this, is it CSS and if so how? As well as other gradients, is it a library or something?
    • Consistency of design is also nice, and lets user know what it is immediately
    • Calendly is also a highlight point, as I'm sure many will want to speak before purchase
    1. 1

Thanks Pierre for the feedback! Really appreciate it. I'll take all your improvements into consideration and add to the site. I do want hover states in the buttons to and will be improving that. I do realize the site takes some time to load. I have done web design but am new to webflow dev. Any idea how I could improve site speed?

Love that you like the design. I basically used multiple background element shapes like circles, ovals, blended the colours by blurring them and then moved and rotated them in a certain way to create the effect. I also followed a YouTube tutorial that kind of helped me create it. I'll add the link to it here in a bit :)

      1. 1

Yeah hover states will be good. Site loading time is actually fine for me, not an issue, but off top of my head, could look into compressing the images. Also if not doing this already have the images or other media in same local folder you are hosting the site from instead of collecting from somewhere with a HTTP request. And yes will appreciate the link! Thanks

        1. 1

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8ZHsLochLFA

This is the link of the vid, Unfortunately it isn't in English, so you have to kinda follow what he is doing and understand based on that hahaha. Gotcha, I'm building this using webflow so all the images are stored in the assets folder anyways.

  15. 1

I like the top part. But not the rest. The designs are not getting enough focus. "The process explained" section looks like a featured section. Could be more like (1) --> (2) --> (3) kind of flow.

How about your links to sites like behance or dribble? I usually check designs there.

    1. 1

Thanks Ghosh! I'll make changes based on what you mentioned. I'll also add a link to dribbble too! May I know more about what you mean by 1 to 2 to 3 approach?
