Landing page feedback

https://www.kettka.com/

Hey all, I've been working on a project in my spare time and have come across the issue of motivation partially due to the fact that my competitor has way more features and I only have a bit of a better ui (but what can you do , they have $10m of series A funding 😭). Anyways, I decided that I might as well make a landing page to see if anyone even wants to give me a shot before I continue coding (and thus wasting time if no one wants to use it). Before I start to advertise it, I'd like some feedback.

https://www.kettka.com/

I'd like to note that I've listened to a lot of YC/IH podcasts and here are the things that I tried to pay attention to:

  1. The first h1 is a one sentence description of the product
  2. The key points list how they'll make the person's life easier, not features (e.g. they all focus on how it makes the process faster)
  3. The last point about waiting for file uploads is to cover a potential reason why the user won't want to use the product.

Thanks! :)

P.S. Do y'all see the second and last "points" as video clips? I can't seem to figure out how to get Chrome to let me autoplay the videos (they're muted and have autoplay so they should work).

One easy conversion test: put one concrete before/after labeling example right under the hero so people instantly see the output quality, not just the workflow.

For tools like this, that kind of proof usually does more work than extra feature copy.

Glanced through it quickly and it's super clear to me what the tool does (or supposed to do).
That said, I got most of the information from the pictures, then from the h2 headers next to them and I barely read the regular text under the headers.

I assume the "features" section makes a lot of sense to those who deal with labeling tools a lot, so I'd make it a bit more contrast (bigger font, maybe put it in a table, maybe add icons, etc)

Awesome! Since you probably saw the updated version, I'm hoping since I'd the earlier feedback helped.

In a good way or bad way? :) I.e. didn't read the smaller text because you got what you needed already (good) or because of something else (bad?)

Gotchya, I'll check this out in the morning.

      Thanks!

hmm. I guess in a way most people do - because of the laziness :) I mean, it's natural for people these days to consume the easiest to digest information first (pics, videos) and read something only if it's absolutely needed.

spend time on the data science, not building tools
    Not sure what it means.
Spend a fraction of the time
    Again, not clear why "fraction".
You can get started on labeling your data as soon as the first image is uploaded
    I think it's cool.
    You probably need to mention:

    • who is this service for
    • which tasks/problems it helps to solve
The whole idea is not new, but definitely, there is a market for such tools. Is the service is already done or you just touch water?
      Good luck!

spend time on the data science, not building tools

      Not sure what it means.

I'm not sure if you're familiar with machine-learning/deep-learning/data-science but the pipeline is usually something like get training data -> label training data -> do data science. I'm guessing people searching for this tool already know that, which is why I'll ask, are you familiar with machine learning? If not, I see how it could be confusing as to what that means. If you are familiar, then I gotta reword it for sure.

Spend a fraction of the time

      Again, not clear why "fraction".

I've slightly updated the text below that to go from

Keyboard shortcuts and an intuitive picker make it easy to do what you want without having to navigate complex menus

      to

Keyboard shortcuts and an intuitive picker make it easy to do common labeling tasks without having to navigate complex menus

      Is that clearer?

The whole idea is not new, but definitely, there is a market for such tools.

Not at all, but given that everyone doesn't use the one I think is the current leader (by miles), I might have the slightest chance :P

It's semi-done in a super barebones state. Got a lot of bugs to fix, but the videos on the landing page are real. I just don't want to keep working on something no one will use, hence the landing page.

      Good luck!

Thanks and thanks again for the feedback.

Yes, I'm familiar with ML pretty much. But these words "spend time on the data science, not building tools" still doesn't make much sense to me.

        Yes, it's better now.

        Not at all what?
You are right it's not for everyone, but it depends on the point of view. For example, if you focus on creating a market for people who would like to make money on some easy job they (many people) would earn by labeling for customers (a few people).

Which framework/language do you use? I'm working on SaaS boilerplates written in Python and can help with creating barebone SaaS app (if you decide to go ahead and create a real SaaS app).
        Good luck!

I was agreeing with you that the idea is not new.

Yeah, a lot of similar tools do this. Something for me to consider for the future.

Angular/node.js. Thanks for the offer but I already have a functional app (just needs some bug fixing). The videos on the page are all real.

          Thanks again for the feedback!

            Cool, thanks!

    This looks great!

First off, I would simplify the language a bit more.

Also (I'm by no means a landing page expert so I don't know how accurate this is), the information seems a bit disjointed & doesn't really give a whole lot of information about the product. It does, however, spark my curiosity, which might motivate me to sign up. I'd suggest finessing the "path" leading up to the email form so that it's more linear.

    Hope that helps!

First off, I would simplify the language a bit more.

Could you elaborate more on this? I've changed some vague language to slightly less vague language as I mentioned in my response to the commenter above, but I'm not sure if that's what you meant.

the information seems a bit disjointed & doesn't really give a whole lot of information about the product.

You're 100% right. I'm trying really hard to "explain how the product helps your user, not its features" but that also limits me greatly in what I can say (the feature list is longer than the number of main "points"). In terms of flow/path, I could maybe make the uploading one first (that way it's more chronological) 🤔.

      Hope that helps!

      Yes, it does. Thank you!

      1. 2

By simplifying the language, I mean using smaller or more common words — it seems a bit jargony to me. A tip I've always found helpful is to write your copy so that a sixth grader would understand it.

Of course I have no clue about this subject matter so I can't be sure how much more simple it can get. But even if the people you're targetting understand the language/terminology, it's still always better to go as simple as possible.

It's something I struggle with for sure, it's always tempting to position yourself as someone "in the know" — but that could unintentionally alienate people who would otherwise be ready to buy.

          Agreed.

          Thanks again for the feedback.
