Landing page feedback for a Notion built site

Hey everyone,

I'm Daniel, a solo founder of Hackpack.io where we help folks get jobs in Big Tech. I'm an engineer by trade, and I'm not really that great at marketing (4 years of engineering at FB doesn't prepare you for writing copy apparently).

I would really appreciate some feedback on our homepage, specifically:

  • Is it clear what we have built?
  • Is it clear what the value add of the community is?
  • What words come to mind after you finish reading the copy?
  • Are the sections in the right order?

Homepage: https://hackpack.io/

Share some feedback on mine and I'd be happy to share feedback on yours!

    • "Conquering Burnout through Community" change to something including programming interviews
    • The design isn't great. Does the builder you're using have a different template? (im on a 4k screen)
    • Scatter the testimonials
    • Add companies you have placed folks in below the header

I would read https://www.julian.com/guide/growth/landing-pages multiple times

Would love your feedback on https://versoly.com/96ab22c6/index and https://versoly.com/96ab22c6/for/developers (not all buttons work).

Thanks for the feedback! Super helpful.

Your sites are awesome, there is one piece of constructive feedback on both of those which is that there is a lot going on in the screen shots. When I first look at the screen shot its hard to tell whats going on and its a little overwhelming. Feels like I am going to need to learn a complex tool before being able to deploy, which isn't something I want to think about before purchasing.

I will say though I could definitely see myself using this in the future, it looks pretty awesome especially around performance!

        Thanks screenshots are hard.

Will see what I can do to simplify them.

Hi Daniel👋. Lots of great feedback here already! To answer your questions quickly:

    1. It wasn’t clear what you were building based on the headline, but reading the rest of the page made it more clear for me
    2. The value add of the community was clear to me
    3. Words that come to mind: Support, rebound, guide, focus, on my side
    4. I would consider moving around, adding, and removing a few sections (details below)

Here are a few ideas about how to change the page:

    • Emphasize success stories: The success stories that you’ve put together are really powerful, I would emphasize those more. One thing that might help would be photos of the community members that you’re highlighting. I think that could add a human element to the page and make that section stand out more on a quick scan.
    • Add a member outcomes section: On top of success stories, I think the page could benefit from a member outcomes section with data points re: outcomes. Product Gym’s section is a good source of inspiration for this: https://productgym.io/
    • Add a low-commitment way to learn more: I think it’d be helpful to give prospective community members a way to figure out if the community is right for them before committing to the membership or application. Some ideas here could be adding a Calendly link to the website to book a free meeting, adding live chat to the website (bonus: the questions you get through this are a great source of ideas for updates to the page's content), or highlighting the option to join the Discord for free (as @JibrilPS suggested)
    • Move “Backed by YCombinator” up: This felt a bit buried on the page. If you put it in the hero section, I think it could encourage visitors who are on the fence to keep reading.
    • Remove “Meet the Founder” section: Do you have additional instructors running the program or is it just you? This section made me wonder that. If you have a team of instructors, I think it could be helpful to highlight their background, similar to the “Who You Learn from Matters…” section on https://www.reforge.com/ . If it’s just you, it makes the program seem smaller and would make me question if I’d be getting enough individual attention as a member. In that case, your background is still relevant, but I think it could work better on a separate "About" page for the people who may be interested.

I hope this helped! I’d love to get your feedback on my website as well: https://www.glance.fyi/

Any feedback is welcome, but here are a few things I’m curious about:

    1. How would you describe this website to a friend?
    2. Would you use something like this? Why or why not?
    3. What would you change to make it work better for you?

Hey! Thanks much for the in depth feedback. I will try to provide the same when looking at your landing page :)

To answer your immediate questions -

How would you describe this website to a friend? Friendly, straight to the point, good for someone who needs a website
Would you use something like this? Why or why not? Yes, if I was in the market for templates I would use
What would you change to make it work better for you? I want a little bit more of a description before I dive into the different templates. Is this a site where I can download these as templates and use them on my own website? or is this just strictly inspiration for my homepage?

Overall, the graphics that were used on the homepage were very eye-catching, and I like that you were able to hover over the templates and the graphics moved.

I would play with the actual layout of the page, maybe move up the different templates to right under the "surround yourself with great ideas" section? It does not seem necessary yet for the user to choose whether they would like to search by landing page or pricing.

      Thanks again for your help!

    Overall branding looks clean!

My feedback or at least what I'll do if it's me.

    Headline:

    • Echoing @volkandkaya on the headline, 'Conquering Burnout through Community' doesn't sell your actual value. Try to craft something that highlights your value. Because the first thing that comes to me when I read this phrase is a mental wellness program.

All your CTA buttons (including the one at the Community Membership & Intensive Plan):

    • Not sure if it's the limitation of the notion landing page, but all your CTA buttons are too subtle. Try a contrasting color button that stands out like your 'Apply' button on the top of your page.

The second section of the page (Go further together, etc.):

    • The placement of images and the description text are a bit hard to read

    Success Stories:

    • Arrangements of the success stories card can be improved
    • Can consider adding a section before/after these success stories cards that highlight just the companies that your alumni landed with their interviews. E.g. some pages where you see they put 'Featured on Forbes, Entrepreneur, Inc, etc' or those section with 'Our clients include <list of company logos>'.

And your 'Member Resources' and 'Hiring Managers' page doesn't exist.

    ---
I would also try the following to increase leads to convert them through the funnel later on.

1- I noticed that you have a Discord channel and Newsletter Sign Up, so I would create another 'FREE' offer next to the Community Membership and Intensive Plan to make it more obvious. Assuming the Discord channel is free to join.

2- I would also reduce the different CTA on the page so that all the CTA will be focused on leading them to your offer. Meet the Founder and How We Work, I would probably just have the information on the page instead of leading people to other pages.
*This will be more on a landing page approach than a website. So maybe not something that you want.

3- I would move the success stories to the second and third sections. I would care more about the outcome/results or at least what's in it for me before I want to learn about the 'How'.

    ---
You have quite a number of members in your discord already, great job!
