Landing Page Feedback: Your Honest Opinion

Hey indiehackers,

I've put the first version of the landing page together, check it out:

https://www.letterstopablo.com/

I know its very raw, but I am a fan of getting feedback as early as possible.
Some of the questions you might want to answer:

Did you understand the product?
What was your general impression?
Given you are the target audience of this product, would you sign-up? If not, why?
Any other design or copy comments.

Looking forward for your feedback.

Thanks!

    1. The "writing prompts" term was a bit unclear/confusing, but besides that, all good
    2. Positive impression, simple design but it doesn't always need to be fancy
    3. I signed up, so the "why not" question is not applicable :)

    What is your monetization model?

    1. 2

I agree on the "writing prompts" term. Maybe it's because I'm not a native English speaker.

      1. 2

Me neither. Maybe it's idiomatic English and we are just stupid foreigners, like my neighbors and ex-coworkers call me.

    1. Yes I think the product is clear.
    2. Nice looking, cool theme.
    3. I would be doubting, because I don't know/understand how you make money. Are you willing to review these texts for free or do I have to pay. That is unclear to me.
    4. Missing why you are credible in Spanish, like quotes or a video of you or ...

FYI - I'm learning a language myself (Bosnian). If you would have this language available, I would not sign up. This is because speaking the language is key for me, writing is not that important. Guess your target audience is more into business writing or something like that.

      @Ruben88 thanks, very solid points!

Holy cow that's a brilliant idea! And your page is charming, charming, charming. Warm, comfy, approachable. Very good.

It makes me want to learn a language.

I have no problem understanding it. No problem with the idea of the writing prompt either.

Let's talk about your competitors: you're competing with all the other stuff I also plan to learn (for me). I'm not sure I'll stick it out, even if you prompt me weekly. That's my biggest pushback. I think having a public price will draw people to commit (maybe?).

Here in Ottawa, Canada, I've got friends who want to learn French but don't have situations when they're forced to train. Your service is very appealing for that. "I've taken courses and did the spaced-repetition and the flashcards, but nobody wants to force me to speak ______. All my friends accommodate me by speaking my native language. Nobody's forcing me to practice learning ______"

    Anyway, this is really great.

I think I understand the product, it like having a virtual penfriend in order to learn Spanish.
The landing page is simple and has a good design. It took me only a few seconds to understand what it is good for.
The only think that might be a bid wired is that I feel pity for pablo because it looks like he does not has arms.

... can you guess what this product is good for: https://www.monsterwriter.app/

Nice design. One important question missing in the FAQ is "Why am I doing this?". Why do you offer free Spanish advise? What's in for you?

There also no Terms & conditions or GDPR information about what you do to the e-mails, if you share them with 3rd parties, etc.

@XCS thanks for your feedback! would take it on board

Cool idea. First impressions, I like the design of the landing - I'm always a fan of keeping things simple. I'm currently not interested in learning Spanish but if I was, I'd like to know the pricing before I signed up.

Good luck Pablo aka Max :)

      @banogun Thanks!
Will definitely talk about the pricing in the next iteration.
      Thank you for your feedback.

Hi! I think your landing page is good. I just needed to go scroll down to get the full idea...But...see...I feel like it is a bit boring thing...Let me explain. I feel myself as a student in the class when yout teacher checks your stories. Is there any way to make it more interactive? Another thing - I dont have any idea what should I write to Pablo)) Maybe Pablo is great person by the way and he wants to tell me in which situation it should help me) Like say I am dating with Spanish woman so want to write her a clean and precise letter, for example. Hope you understand) It is called "uses cases"

Looks great! I understood what it is pretty quickly. After realizing a real human would be reading/replying though, my immediate concern was that would have to cost something to be sustainable - maybe add a faq question on if it'll remain free forever or explain that part?

    1. 1

@mlapeter makes total sense, will do that next

  9. 1

I like the design, color and message. It's easy to understand and the overall impression looks great! Nice work.

What I don't understand is that it's seems to be free, but it's unclear. If it's free, add everywhere. If no, a price page or similar.

    Good luck!

      Hi @jp_aulet,

      Thanks for your feedback.
You are right, we definitely need to talk about the pricing. We just put this first version just to see the reaction of people and if there is any interest. Talking about price would be our next step.

  10. 1

Very well put together, nice and squeaky clean, no better way to practice than writing.

The only reason I wouldn't sign up is because I wouldn't know pricing, nor the control over the 'difficulty'.

On the copy front, I would expand a little on the paragraph you already included on why writing is more effective in learning a language than simply speaking it.

Thanks @ovi all your comments are valid

  11. 1

IDK while I get what you are offering I dont get why I should do this. I guess because then my writing in Spanish will get better.

So, you describe what your service does but you don't give the motivation why this is maybe the best way to learn to write Spanish.

I am not from this space so I dont have any clue but then I also dont get why you just focus on writing. Are there any folks out who just want to improve their Spanish writing but not their verbal skills??Thought if somebody wants to learn a language they learn all of it.

Then final point: why Spanish??? yes half of worlds speaks Spanish BUT how many want to learn Spanish compared to other languages and willing to spend money on the learning because after knowing Spanish they earn more money?

  12. 1
    1. Yes, but I had to read the subheading.
    2. Kinda cool, I like the idea.
    3. Hard to say since I am not looking to learn Spanish.
    4. Can't think of anything. Seems fairly straightforward and easy to grasp.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to provide this feedback!

No problem. Little self plug here.. I created a Chrome extension which helps identify any conversion issues: http://getconversionchecklist.com/ May come in useful on this or other projects / sites. Cheers!

Raw!? I think the design / style is great. Understood clearly what it was about. Don't think I could fault it.

Patrick, that practicar.mx is da bomb! I wish I had discovered it many moons ago when I was practicing.

The combo of long-form letters and quick-fire conjugations would make a nice language learning package.

Oh fuck yes - shooting you an email now. I had been on the market for mobile apps that would do the conjugation bit, but they create needless friction in other areas (e.g. could select one verb at a time or all verbs, not just most-popular ones).
PS: your email link on the 'que es eso?' modal is missing the 'mailto:' prefix
