Landing page for a soon to be released technical book

Hi,

I made a landing page with MailChimp to gather interest on a new book I am writing.

It is aimed at software developers interested in building multimedia apps, notably with .NET.

Page is at https://www.libvlcsharpthebook.com/preview

Any feedback is welcome, thanks!

Are you targeting software developers who know nothing about building multimedia apps in .NET? Do they already know .NET?

Or are you targeting software developers who already know how to build multimedia apps in .NET and you are teaching them more advanced techniques using LibVLCSharp?

For now, I am assuming that you are targeting experienced .NET developers who want to build multimedia apps in .NET but don't know where to start with the multimedia part. If that's not the case, then the following will be incorrect.

Here's one way you could start.

    .NET Developers
Build multimedia apps in an hour
Stop wasting your precious billable hours scourging the internet on how to build cross-platform multimedia apps. Develop your first .NET multimedia app in an hour using the step-by-step instructions provided in the book. Spend more time doing than searching.

The above copy can definitely be improved a lot. This is just a start.

      Hi @neeravbm,

That's a fair point, thank you for your message.

Indeed the target audience might need to be clarified. The book is mainly targeted at .NET developers who don't know where to start with the multimedia part, or who have specific/demanding video requirements. They don't need to be experts at .NET, even junior devs should be able to read through the book. Any developers of a C-based language really.

I think that, even though not the main target, this book could be useful for non .NET devs, like people who are open to any technology that might fit the bill for their project.

The book is about LibVLCSharp, the .NET bindings and LibVLC, the crossplatform C library. So Java, C, Python and Swift developers, or put simply developers who are skilled at other languages than .NET ones, could also benefit from the book and use LibVLC with their preferred bindings.

Granted there will be .NET specific things in there, but a large part will be general and apply to other LibVLC bindings.

So I think first you want to determine whether you want to position this book as teaching multimedia app development for .NET developers or as a book that teaches about LibVLCSharp to any developer. Where is the search traffic larger?

I think the target will be .NET developers wanting to learn multimedia app development, as otherwise I'd need to explain .NET concepts which is not what I want to focus on.

Where is the search traffic larger?

          Hard to say.
